Artzy Clubhouse February – Spring Chicken

 Hello and welcome!

Today I am excited to play with another one of the new stamp and die sets from the Dare 2B Artzy Clubhouse. The February Clubhouse set is called Spring Chicken and it is so, so cute! I am really loving all of the new stamps from the Artzy Clubhouse monthly releases.

I have a video for today’s card over on my YouTube channel.

The set features the two chickens and a larger decorative egg as well as some smaller eggs in a group of three. Plus, there are several other items like a paint pallet and brush, flowers, a chicken foot stamp and a chicken wire stamp. Both of which would be perfect for building some backgrounds. How fun!

The Spring Chicken stamp set features several sentiments that could be used to make Easter Cards but also some wonderful, all-occasion sentiments perfect for making Spring cards for birthdays, Mother’s Day or get well soon cards.

For my card today, I chose to use the Have an Egg-cellent Day sentiment.

I started by stamping both chickens, 5 of the decorative eggs and two sets of the smaller eggs onto some 110lb cardstock with Dare 2B Artzy’s Totally Black ink.

In coloring my chickens, I kept with some neutral colors since I knew I would have quite a few brightly colored eggs in my background.

For each of the larger eggs, I just pulled out several of my brightly colored, Sketchmarker Brush alcohol markers and tried to change the colors for each egg.

I also colored the smaller eggs with just a hint of an off-white color to give them a bit of dimension and colored the bouquet of flowers brightly as well. I love all of the bright, cheerful colors in this card.

Next, I cut one of the slimline, stitched backgrounds from the Slim Mini Wavy Layers die. I cut it from some light blue 80lb cardstock.

I also used a piece of 110lb cardstock to cut the slimline clouds border die. I used this to create my own stencil so that I could stencil clouds onto my background panel. I used the die cut clouds border the same way you would use a stencil and ink blended on some Tumbled Glass and a hint of Shaded Lilac Distress Oxide inks to create the fluffy clouds in the background.

For the grass, I cut two different colors of green cardstock from my stash using a light green for the foreground and a darker green for the background grass. To give the grass a bit of dimension I did add some shading with some regular Distress Inks in Cracked Pistachio and Pine Needles. The little bit of added shading really brings more dimension to the grass.

Finally, I assembled my card by gluing down the darker grass onto my background. I tucked several of the eggs behind the grass with a little added glue.

For the grass in the foreground, I placed a little dimensional foam behind it at the bottom. Then I was able to add a couple more of the decorative eggs which mad the scene a bit more dimensional.

My cute chickens were added on the top layer of grass. To keep them level, I had to add layer of dimensional foam on the top half of their bodies. Then I simply added liquid glue to the bottom half of their bodies and tucked them into the scene. I used a pair of reversible tweezers to hold them in place while the glue dried.

For the finishing touches, I added in the bouquet of flowers, the smaller eggs and my sentiment which I added with some dimensional foam as well.

I opted not to add any additional embellishments to my scene card but I did use a Gelly Roll Stardust pen to add some shimmer to the flowers and the eggs.

That wraps up my card for today.
