A little STAMPtember fun!

Happy Labor Day weekend everyone! Hope you’re enjoying this long holiday weekend! I’m enjoying some much deserved crafting time this weekend!

As a crafter it’s so exciting to come home and find that you have “happy mail” as we call it. It’s even better when it’s free happy mail in the form of stamps! Am I right?

I’m so, so excited to have received a free stamp set from Simon Says Stamp that is part of their STAMPtember release! Whoo-hoo!!

This is Simon Says Stamp’s 10 year anniversary of STAMPtember so it’s even more special to be able to take part in this month long celebration of craftiness.

I received a set of sentiment stamps for Christmas called Tabbed Sentiments Holiday from CZ Design which is Cathy Zielske Design. She is a wonderful designer and has created several stamp sets that are available on Simon Says Stamp.

The Tabbed Sentiments Holiday set is awesome for creating all of your holiday cards, Christmas gift tags and projects. It has 29 different sentiments in this 4 x 6 stamp set.

Today I’m sharing the card I made using this sentiment set. It’s my first Christmas card for 2019.

For this card, I stamped and heat embossed the Simon Says Stamp Plank Background stamp (which happens to be a release from last STAMPtember) onto a piece 6 x 6 piece of Canson 140lb water color paper using some Antique Gold embossing powder.

Next, I used a combination of Zig Clean Color brush markers to water color the background along with a Spectrum Noir Sparkle pen in Solar Red and a Nuvo Aqua  Shimmer Pen called Midas Touch. The colors used for my Zig brushes were Wine Red and Carmine Red and Marine Green, Green and Emerald Green. I used the Zig brushes and a small amount of water in each section of the background to blend them. For the red areas I used the Spectrum Noir Sparkle pen on top. Rather than leaving a bunch of white areas I decided to use the Nuvo Aqua Shimmer in gold to play up the gold embossing and add even more sparkle to the background. The sparkle is very difficult to capture in the photos but trust me it really shines!!

Once the background was complete I cut it down to 4 ¼ x 5 ½ and set it aside.

To create the poinsettia, I used the new Hero Arts Fancy Layering poinsettia die set. This set cuts all the details you see into the poinsettia and leaves. It’s absolutely gorgeous. I cut several sets of the poinsettia from different papers. I ended up using an off-white glitter paper I had in my stash and a sheet of gold glitter paper which came from a Tonic Studios monthly kit. The entire set of poinsettia layers were glued together using the Lawn Fundamentals glue tube. I held them in place using a set of crafting tweezers until they dried.

For the leaves of the poinsettia, I cut from some green cardstock I had and used some Pine Needles Distress Ink and blended that onto the leaves to darken them up a little bit before gluing them in place on the back of the poinsettia.

For the sentiment I used my fun new Tabbed Sentiments and stamped the Christmas Cheer onto some red cardstock and heat set with some Hero Arts Super Fine White embossing powder.

I die cut the sentiment using the Simon Says Stamp Word Mix 1 die set. There are several sentiments in the Tabbed Sentiments stamp set that can be stamped and cut using the Word Mix 1 die set so it makes quick and convenient sentiments for cards.

With my Christmas Cheer sentiment stamped and cut, I cut a piece of scrap Canson watercolor cardstock and added it behind my sentiment to break up the background a bit since there’s a lot of sparkle and shine going on with the background.

I popped the sentiment up on my background using some dimensional foam. I used an extra set of poinsettia leaves and glued them in place under my sentiment.

The poinsettia was added to the lower left using some dimensional foam.

For a finishing touch I added some pearls to the card front using more Lawn Fundamentals glue.

My entire card panel was added to a top-folding A2 sized card.

Hope you’ve enjoyed my card for STAMPtember. The Tabbed Sentiment stamp set is available NOW. You can find it on Simon Says Stamp site along with all of the other amazing releases during this month-long celebration of stamping and crafts HERE. I know I’m looking forward to everything in STAMPtember!
