Cozy Christmas Reindeer Games

Hi All,

Hard to believe we’re just 4 days away from Christmas! Even harder to believe is that I’m still working on Christmas Cards!! I’ve not even started the process of wrapping gifts yet. HA!! I’ll admit I’ve been a bit of a pro-craftinater this year. Not by choice though. It seems life just kind of exploded the past couple of months between home and work it’s been rather crazy.

I’m here today to share another Christmas card I made from what is arguably two of the cutest stamp sets ever from Mama Elephant. I’m referring to the Reindeer Games and Cozy Christmas stamp sets. When the Reindeer games set came out I could not wait to get my hands on it. The set has 21 images, 8 of which are reindeer. Luckily, I ordered the die set at the same time and I’m thankful that I did because trying to fussy cut all the little extras that come with this set would be very difficult.

The other set that I ordered later is the Cozy Christmas. I saw that someone else had created a card with this and I realized that it actually complimented the Reindeer Games set so I ordered it as well. I mean you can’t have reindeer without a Santa Claus, right?

For my card today, I started off by stamping and coloring two different reindeer and my Santa. All were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copics. Next I die cut the two reindeer and fussy cut Santa because I did not get the die set to go with my Cozy Christmas stamp set. I may have to pick that one up later.

To create my card I created an A2 size card and die cut a circle in the center of the front of the card. I also die cut the same size circle out of some green glitter paper for the inside of the card.

Next I cut a sheet of pattern paper for the front of my card that was 1/4 inch smaller than my card base. I traced the smaller circle onto the front of the paper and then I centered a larger circle over my traced circle. When I had my larger circle centered, I taped it in place with a piece of removeable tape and die cut it. I glued the paper to the front of my card.

I positioned my two reindeer around the outside of the circle on the front of the card and adhered them with some dimensional foam.

I put Santa on the inside of the card in the center of the glittery green circle that I’d cut.

Finally, I cut three strips of paper from 1 inch down to 1/2 inch and stamped my sentiment, “Joyful Wishes” from the Lawn Fawn Winter Scripy Saying set on the top layer with some Versamark and added some Adirondack Embossing Powder in Red Pepper to it and heat embossed it. I adhered the strips together and applied them to my card with some dimensional foam.

For the inside of the card I used a sentiment from the Cozy Christmas stamp set,  “Merry Christmas from our Home to Yours”. I stamped it with some Versamark ink and also heat embossed it with theAdirondack Red Pepper embossing powder.

Here’s a look at the finished card.20151220_181324_001-1_wm [828771]

This card was a quick and easy one to make which was nice.

Hope you enjoyed it. I’ll be back tomorrow to share another card I made – this one’s an “action” card.

I’m leaving you with a picture of the latest edition to our family. This is Chewbacca or Chewie as we call him – I let my hubby pick out his name so it’s not surprising it’s a nod to Star Wars, his all time favorite movie. We adopted him from a shelter the day before Thanksgiving. They couldn’t tell us much about him as he’d just arrived at the shelter from Kansas the day before. He is a Basenji mix of some sort (I think maybe with a Chihuahua) and is about a year old. He’s been such a light in our lives after we had to put our Doxie to sleep in October. We’re thankful to have been able to add Chewie to our family – he’s keeping everyone (us, the other dog  Tipper and the cat, Ziggy) on our toes. He’s all legs and goofy ears and he’s found his forever home with us.
