Halloween Cuteness with Newton’s Nook Designs

Hi All –

Hope everyone had a wonderful long weekend! Can’t believe it’s over already and I’m back to work tomorrow.

Oh well, I did manage to get some craftiness into my weekend. I finished up a couple of cards today.

Keeping with my Halloween themes (trying to get my cards done so I can send them out on time this year – yay!), today I’m sharing a card I made using the adorable Boo Crew stamp set from Newton’s Nook Designs. OK, I’ll admit it – the thing that sold me on this set of stamps was the Doxie dressed as a fairy. I won’t even tell you the Halloween costumes I’ve put on my own Doxie, Charlie. He’s just too irresistible to dress up.

At any rate, the card I made actually doesn’t include the Doxie (I’m sure I’ll have one to share before Halloween). Instead I made a card featuring the cute little Ghost Cat and the Owl with the witch’s hat.

I created an airbrushed background for my card by first die cutting a 1 1/2 inch circle from an Avery repositionable mailing label. I placed my die cut circle sticky side down in the upper left hand corner of a white cardstock panel that was 5 1/4 by 4 1/8.

My background for this card was airbrushed using my Copic Markers and my Craftwell eBrush. I used some midtone blues as well as a hint of pink in my background. Once I was satisfied with the way the background looked I peeled up my circle and added a hint of blue on one side to create something that resembled a moon.

I used several die cuts for the remainder of the card. I die cut some hills using the Rolling Hills die from Die-Namics and the white fence was also from the same set.

Next, I used two shades of green cardstock and cut a grass border using the Grassy Border die from Lawn Fawn.

I stamped my little Ghostly Kitty and my Witchy Owl onto some Neenah Solar White cardstock and colored them with my Copic Markers and then fussy cut them out.

I also stamped some pumpkins from the Mama Elephant stamp set Meowlloween and colored them with my Copics as well and fussy cut them out. The pumpkin stamps are actually separate so I had to create a mask to be able to stamp the groups of pumpkins because I wanted it to appear as though they were walking through a pumpkin patch.

Once I was finished, stamping, coloring, die cutting and airbrushing I was finally able to assemble my card. For my sentiment I used the Trick or Treat sentiment and word bubble from Mama Elephant’s Meowlloween Extras stamp set and added it to the card using some dimensional foam.

I also added a little Wink of Stella clear shimmer to the moon.

The finished card size is 5 6/8 x 4 5/8.
