Springtime Wildflower Garden

Hello and welcome!

I am back today with another project for Dare 2B Artzy. This card was very much inspired by Spring. The weather here has been so nice and the flowers are beginning to bloom in the trees and in the flower beds.

I really wanted to create a colorful floral card to celebrate all things Spring. The perfect stamp for creating many flowers at once is the Wildflower Garden from Dare 2b Artzy. This beautiful stamp creates a line of wildflowers which are perfect for creating colorful cards. It features the large focal image of flowers and has 8 coordinating sentiments.

To start my card, I cut a piece of Neenah 110lb Solar White cardstock to 4 ¼ x 5 1/5 and with a very light hand I ink blended on some Distress Oxide inks in Squeezed Lemonade, Saltwater Taffy, Cracked Pistachio and Tumbled Glass. I wanted a background of light, airy pastel colors. The nice thing with this color combo is that you can get some additional colors; a nice light orange where the pink and yellow meet and a soft purple where the pink and the blue meet.

Once I was finished, I stamped the Wildflower Garden stamp into the ink blended panel using my MISTI stamping tool. I let about ¼ of an inch of the stamp hang off the paper as I wanted to leave room for the sentiment. I stamped the image with Dare 2B Artzy’s Totally Black ink a couple of times to be sure to get a good impression.

Next, I turned my paper so that the top of the cardstock was now at the bottom and then reinked the stamp and stamped it a second time onto the cardstock. This gave me stamped florals at the top and bottom of my card with enough space for my sentiment between the groups of flowers.

To color my images, I used my Ohuhu Alcohol markers. I have a set that has a lot of pastel colors so I thought I would try them out.

I colored all of the wildflowers and leaves. I did try to keep the flower colors similar to the color of ink blended on the background as much as possible.  I did find that the Ohuhu markers were a little difficult to blend on the Distress Oxide inked background but they worked out OK.

When all of the flowers were colored, I went back in with several marker colors and added some little dots of color in and around the flowers for some added interest. I call them my fairy sprites, LOL! At least that is what I like to imagine is flying around in my garden of wildflowers.

Once I was finished, I used the large Rectangle Framelets Die set from Dare 2B Artzy die cut the panel. I matted it to a piece of the Picnic in the Park paper using the purple side with the text and added it to a top-folding A2 size card.

Next, I stamped the sentiment “Where the Wildflowers Dance, find Happiness.” With some purple ink and then restamped with embossing ink and set it by heat embossing it with clear embossing powder. I absolutely love this sentiment and it is the perfect addition to my card.

I cut the sentiment out using the Sentiment Strips dies and popped it up in the center of my wildflowers.

I added some white Gelly Roll Pen as well as some Stardust Gelly Roll accents.

For some embellishments, I added some colored drops around the panel to mimic the little dots of color I made with the alcohol markers.

That finishes my card for today. I hope you are inspired to create some Spring cards to brighten someone’s day.

All of the products used in today’s card will be linked below for your convenience.

Thank you so very much for stopping by today.

Hugs,

Tonya
