Creative Escape

Hello and happiest of Mondays to everyone!

I am back today to share some new products from Dare 2B Artzy. My card today features some of the new flower stamps from the Totally Tracy line of stamps at Dare 2B Artzy. She just recently launched 3 new stamp sets and I am in love with these big, artzy blooms that are fantastic to color and use with mixed media.

To start, I decided to break out my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. I haven’t used them in quite a while and was excited to discover that they color and blend so smoothly on the Hammermill 100 lb Cover Stock paper. Yes, that is the paper that everyone uses for foiling, but I’m here to tell you that this paper really works well for the Zigs.

Since the Zig’s are water based, I stamped my images using Versafine black ink. I did heat set the stamped images with a heat tool for a few seconds before coloring to avoid smearing the ink which tends to stay wet.

I stamped the largest flower from the Creative Escape stamp set and the medium flower from the Be Strong Stamp set onto my Hammermill cardstock.

This year, I have decided to challenge myself to use my Color Cubes more and get inspired to branch out with color. The card below is what I used to inspire my color choices for this card today. I obviously didn’t get all of the colors exact, but it was a good starting point to pull my card together.

I colored the largest flower first. Initially I did color it a light blue but ended up making it a bit bolder with some darker blues added into the artist’s lines on the stamp and then blended out with a lighter color.

Next, I colored the other flower with some peachy-pinks and a hint of light orange. I will link the colors of the Zig markers I used below for reference.

For each flower, I used three shades of brown Zig markers to color the Pistil of the flowers.

Once both flowers were colored I fussy cut them with my detail scissors. As of yet, there are no coordinating dies for these however, I will say they are very easy to fussy cut.

I decided that my flowers needed some greenery to go with them, I stamped and colored two sets of leaves from the Boho Prints stamp set. I used some darker Olive green colors for these leaves in keeping with my color inspiration.

To pull my card together, I cut a 4 ¼ x 5 ½ piece of the Stay Wild paper pack with the mushrooms on one side and this pretty pink floral pattern on the back. I think this new paper is so pretty.

I adhered that to a top folding card base made from 110lb Neenah Solar White Cardstock.

To add a bit of shimmer and shine, I used a sheet of iridescent cardstock in a shade of pink and layered the two largest Rectangle Framelets Dies together and ran it through my die cutting machine to create a frame for my card front.

I stamped the Escape and is Good for the Soul onto some white cardstock and then sprinkled on some clear embossing powder and heat set it. I die cut those sentiments out using the Mini Borders Dies from Dare 2B Artzy.

Once my card was ready to assemble, I added some dimensional foam to the back of my flowers and layered them onto the Stay Wild floral paper and my iridescent frame with the leaves peeking out from under the flowers. I let the leaves hang off the card, some people cut them off, but I decided I liked that look. I added in the sentiments at the top and bottom of my card.

For a finishing touch, I added a few gems to my card panel.

I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s card and this little creative escape. I encourage you to have your own creative escape with the new Totally Tracy stamps and all of the groovy new stamps over on Dare 2B Artzy.

Products used in today’s card are linked below for your convenience.

Have a terrifically crafty day!
