You Octopi my Heart! It’s a new Challenge Month!!
Hello Artzy friends! Hope you are having a wonderful weekend.
Today I am sharing my project for the new Dare 2B Artzy Challenge. This month’s challenge theme is Love.
For my card, I colored the adorable octopus from the Seas the Day stamp set. I figured this little octopus has lots of love to share. It does have 8 arms after all and that means lots of hugs to share with some lucky recipient.
I colored the octopus with a light blue green using my OLO Markers and cut it out with the coordinating die.
Using the coordinating die set, I cut 3 little hearts from a couple colors of pink cardstock. I added some glitter glue to the hearts and set them aside to dry. Once finished, I tucked them into the octopus to make it appear he was holding the hearts.
Next, I created the background by die cutting one each of the layered hearts from the Gift Bag & Box die and I layered them on top of the stitched square die which I cut from some Dare 2B Artzy Pitcher This paper. I used the side with the colorful stripes that coordinated with the color of my scalloped heart. I did use some dimensional foam to give the elements some dimension on my card front.
I used the scalloped square from the Gift Bag & Box Die set and ran it through my hot foil machine with some pink hot foil. It created the perfect foiled scallop frame for my focal point. Dies can be hot foiled very easily if you don’t use too much pressure and the results can be amazing. It’s good to be able to stretch those crafty supplies.
Once my hot foiled border was done, I cut down the cardstock leaving a ¼ inch border and then used a corner punch to round the corners.
For the card base, I cut a piece of cardstock to be 9 x 4 ½ and scored to create a top folding square card.
I trimmed off the pink gingham border from the Pitcher This paper. I cut two strips to measure the 4 ½ width of my card base and adhered them with Scor-tape.
I added the background and my octopus to the card base with some additional dimensional foam.
I loved the sentiment, You Octopi my heart” for this card. Just too sweet! I stamped it onto a piece of cardstock and used the banner from the Center Step Die to cut out the sentiment. I cut a second banner from the remaining pink gingham border and layered it behind the sentiment.
The sentiment popped up on the top of the panel at an angle.
For a finishing touch I added some little silver embellishments to each corner of the foiled background.
That finished up my card for this month’s Dare 2B Artzy Challenge. I would love to see what you create and share for this challenge. Be sure to head over to Dare 2B Artzy’s blog post today and link up your Love themed project for this month’s challenge. The winner will receive a gift certificate to the Dare 2B Artzy online store.
