A Little Birdie

Hello and welcome Artzy friends! I’m back today with a fun birthday card featuring the Scandinavian Songbirds stamp set from Dare 2B Artzy. I’m always in need of Birthday cards and I can’t think of a better stamp set to use than the Scandinavian Songbirds. This set has everything you need to make beautiful birthday cards and the sentiments are some of my favorites.

To start, I stamped one of the little birds from the set along with the corner floral bunch and two of the single flowers with my Dare 2B Artzy Totally Black ink. I stamped my images onto Neenah Solar White 110lb cardstock. This is my go-to cardstock for all of my coloring with alcohol markers.

I colored all of my flowers and my little bird with a combination of Copics and Art-n-Fly alcohol markers.  Once I was finished I added some white dot details to the flowers and bird with a Jelly Roll white pen. I also used the Jelly Roll Stardust pen to add a few shimmery accents on the flowers.

When all of my images were colored, I die cut everything out with the coordinating dies and set them aside.

Next, I used a piece of 110lb cardstock and created an A2 size top folding card base.

In my last card, I created some watercolor wash backgrounds. I had two backgrounds leftover so I thought I would use one for today’s card.

Using some double sided tape, I added my water colored background to my card base. It was a bit smaller than my card base so it left a nice white border around it.

I created a simple ¼ inch frame for my watercolor background by using the two largest Rectangle Framelets dies. I added that to the top of my watercolor background with a little Bearly Art Glue. I think the frame pulls the colors together with the floral elements and the cute little bird.

Before adding my colored images, I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment, “A little birdie told me…it was your birthday” with some blue embossing powder.

On the inside of the card, I stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Scandinavian Songbirds set in some Midnight Blue ink from Dare 2B Artzy. I love the font used for this sentiment, it’s so pretty.

I added my colored flowers and bird around the outer edges of the frame with some dimensional foam.

This was such a quick and easy Birthday card but it turned out beautifully. I still love using the flowers from this set to frame up card panels. They just make the card pop.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s card.
