Dare 2B Artzy June Challenge
How are my crafty friends? Hope everyone is doing well! I’m back with a new card for the June Challenge over on Dare 2B Artzy starting today.
The theme for the June Challenge is masculine cards.
I don’t know about you, but I really struggle with creating masculine cards. I kept my card today very simple, but I think it turned out really nice and it definitely turned out masculine.
I started by stamping the Mr. Moose from the Dare 2B Artzy Christmoose stamp set. I think the little moose’s in this set are too cute. The Mr. Moose is especially fun with his overalls and hat.
I colored the moose with my Copic markers. I added a bit of plaid detail to the hat with a black fine line Sharpie pen and the chisel edge of my Copic marker to add more green plaid detail.
I thought that adding a bit of stubble to Mr. Moose’s face, gave him some fun detail as well. To create that stubble look, I did a bit of stippling (creating dots) on his face using some varying colors of Copic brown markers.
Using the Christmoose die set, I cut out Mr. Moose after I colored him and set him aside.
For the background mats, I used the new Rectangle Framelets Die. These are A2 sized and have the fun dotted detail around all the edges. I cut the two largest dies from this set. The background layer measures 4 x 5 ¼ and was cut from a plain tan cardstock from my stash and then the next largest layer which is 4 ¾ x 3 ½ was cut from the Dare 2B Artzy Hats Off paper pack. I used the side with the multicolored diamond print which I love as it has a bit of a masculine feel to it.
To pull out some of the teal blue in my patterned cardstock, I created a teal blue strip of cardstock by using the second largest die again from the Rectangle Framelets Die set. I cut a full sheet of the teal blue paper.
Next, I did a partial cut with the same die by lining up the paper so that it sort of clicks in place along the dotted detail on the sides, but the bottom of the die is only about 1 inch into the paper from the bottom edge. This creates a nice strip that’s the same width as the paper so it lines up perfectly. It’s also a great trick to stretch your dies if you don’t have any sentiment strip dies.
Using the 2 3/8, Double Dot circle die; I cut a circle from some white cardstock. I layered the circle over my teal blue paper strip across the middle of the background panel with some dimensional foam.
I added my Mr. Moose to the left side of the circle with some dimensional foam.
Using another scrap piece of white cardstock, I cut the cute little tag from the Rectangle Framelets die set. I stamped the For My and the Dad from the new Special Family stamp set from Dare 2B Artzy with some brown ink.
The new Special Family stamp set has a ton of great sentiments that you can use for Get Well, Birthday, Encouragement cards for all of your family card occasions. It’s a great addition to have in your stamp stash!!
I used the smallest flag sentiment strip from the Wavy Slimline Framelets die set. I used the same trick on this to cut down the flag to fit my sentiment. I cut a full length strip and then realigned my die with the paper strip and moved it in a couple of inches to create a smaller strip to fit my card panel and stamped Thinking of You sentiment.
The sentiment tag and strip were added to the card panel with a bit of dimensional foam. I added a tan bow to the tag and added it next to my moose. I added a drop of glue to the center of the bow to make sure it stays together and then added a little brown gem to the center of the bow. I also added a single clear heart shaped gem to the tag above the Dad.
That wraps up my masculine card for the June Challenge theme. I hope you will play along with this month’s theme. Be sure to link your card projects on the Dare 2B Artzy post today for the June Challenge. There will be a prize to the card chosen as the June Challenge winner so don’t miss out on that.
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope you enjoyed my project for the Dare 2B Artzy June Challenge!
