Raccoons Love Ice Cream Too!

Hi Artzy friends! I’m popping in today to share the details of my latest Dare 2B Artzy card for the Instagram HOP that’s still taking place through the end of today.

I don’t know about you but I love ice cream! And not just during the Summer either. I’m a cold weather ice cream girl too. I know, probably weird for some people to eat ice cream on a cold wintery day. If you love ice cream like I do the latest Dare 2B Artzy stamp called Raccoon Party is right up your alley. It features the adorable raccoons and all of their favorite ice cream cones and popsicles as well as a fun little ice cream truck.

To create my scene card, I started by stamping and coloring the racoon and ice cream truck with some Artify Alcohol markers. I recently purchased these markers to test their quality and compare to my other alcohol markers as a cheaper alternative.

Once my stamped images were colored, I could now work on creating a fun scene. I had the idea of the Ice Cream truck at the park on a nice, sunny day.

To start, I cut a card base to A2 size. Next, I used the Dare 2B Artzy Double Dot Circle Framelet dies to cut the main circle window in the front of my card base. I cut a piece of the new waffle cone looking pattern paper from Dare 2B Artzy’s Ice Cream Social paper pack to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. This paper would be used to cover the front of my card base. To line up the circle in the card base with the patterned paper, I flipped the card base over and made sure the paper was lined up and traced the circle onto the back of the pattern paper. I placed my die over the traced circle and ran it through my die cutting machine. I used some double sided Score Tape to adhere the paper to the card front. Then I used two concentric circles to create a fun frame from some blue satin cardstock to go around the window in the front of my card. I love the pop of blue.

I cut a second circle slightly larger, from some white 110lb cardstock for the inside of the card. This would be the base for the scene.

I used the Dare 2B Artzy Curves Slimline Border Die set and cut some green cardstock in order to create some grassy area for my scene. I had to run the curved cardstock through the die cut machine again with one of the circle dies so that it would match with my background.

To create the clouds, I used the clouds from the same Curves Slimline Border Die set and cut them from some white glitter cardstock.

Before I adhered anything to my circle scene inside the card, I used the Sunburst Stencil and ink blended on some sun rays shining down on my grassy area. I added the clouds with some liquid glue and trimmed them down to fit the circle as well.

Next, I added the grass and the Ice Cream truck with some more liquid glue and set some stamping blocks on it to wait for it to dry.

While that was drying I cut some more of the new Dare 2B Artzy patterned paper from the Ice Cream Social paper pack using the little banner flags that come with the Raccoon Party coordinating die set. The little banners have a little tab on them that allows you to fold it over and adhere it to some twine. I used a thicker twine which you can’t really see in the picture. In hindsight, it would probably work better with some string or thread which would be less thick. It was a bit of a challenge to fold and glue the tabs over the twine that I used. A good pair of reverse tweezers is definitely in order for holding the tabs in place while the glue sets. I actually used both pairs of mine for this process.

I used 7 of the alternating banners for my little string of banners. I love how all the different papers look. It is really a fun little banner! To adhere them to my card front, I used dimensional foam and strung them across the top from corner to corner. To finish off the corners and hide the ends of the twine, I colored some white cardstock with a liquid watercolor pen from ColorIt and die cut it using the tiny flower from the new Dare 2B Artzy Slimline Tropical Leaf Border Die. I glued the flowers in place on each end of the banner and added a little yellow gem in the center of each. I love how cute it looks. I think I’ll be using these little banners a lot.

For the sentiment, I used the Tomorrow we can eat broccoli, but TODAY we eat ICE CREAM and stamped an heat embossed on the front of the card panel with some black detail embossing powder.

On the inside of the card in the lower right corner, I stamped the Calories DONT COUNT on your Birthday. I also heat embossed it with some black detail embossing powder. I left the grassy area to write a short note for the recipient on the inside of the card.

I adhered my little raccoon on the front of the card next to the sentiment with some dimensional foam.

As a finishing touch, I used a Tonic Aqua Shimmer pen and colored the hat on the raccoon and also the teal colored stripes on the ice cream truck to give them a bit of a shimmer.

I really had a blast making this card. The new Dare 2B Artzy products are adorable and so much fun!
