Thanks a Bunch

Hello and happy, happy Wednesday crafty friends! I’m happy that we’re at the mid-way point of the work week, how about you? I have a bright, fun thank you card to share with you today.

I seem to go through Thank You cards very quickly so I tend to deplete my stash pretty regularly and it’s always good to replenish so I have some on hand.

Today I wanted to share with you this bright, fun floral thank you card that I created.  I started out with a stamp from Simon Says Stamp called Floral Bliss. This stamp has a nice spray of flowers and leaves that works perfectly both horizontally or vertically on a card front.

I started by positioning the large floral stamp in my MISTI and stamping it with some Versamark onto some  110 lb Neenah Solar White cardstock. I used Ranger White Super Fine Detail Embossing powder. Lately this has been my go-to embossing powder as I find that it gives a crisp outline which is really nice for a detailed floral stamp like this.

With my stamp outline embossed, I was ready to get out my Zig Clean Color bushes and play with some color (the colors used were: Bright Yellow, Yellow, Dark Pink, Deep Violet, Violet, Light Violet, May Green, Orange, Pink, Cobalt Blue, Light Blue and Scarlet Red). For this stamp, I added the Zig markers directly to the image and then used an aqua brush to move the color around and lighten it. If you’re afraid to get your feet wet with water coloring, you can’t go wrong with these Zig Clean Color brushes. They’re so easy to use and the colors are very vibrant so they make your projects look amazing even for a water color novice like myself.  Once my coloring was dry, I did add a bit of Wink of Stella clear shimmer to the flowers. You do have to be a bit careful however as it can pick up the color, so you’ll want to use a light touch. A little goes a long way with these shimmer pens.

Once I had finished coloring the Floral Bliss stamp, I used an awesome die from Studio Katia to cut out the piece. I have to say, I’m a huge fan of unique shaped dies. There are many varieties of dies that are square, rectangle or round in the crafting world. However, every once in a while I’ll come across a unique die and just fall in love. The stitched creative rectangles from Studio Katia are one of my favorites (see also the stitches nested creative squares – which are another favorite of mine). I think these dies are so fun and they are great for giving a focal point to an image or just taking your card design to the next level.

With my colored panel die cut, I was ready to add a sentiment. For this card, I used the Altenew Label Love set and stamped it with some Ranger Pigment ink and then sprinkled on some clear embossing powder and heat set it. This gives a nice clear coating to the stamped sentiment and it really kind of made it look like it came out of a label maker. I used a small banner die that was 3 inches by 1/2 inch and cut the sentiment out. I used a black Copic marker to go around all the edges and darken them so as not to have any white edges from my paper showing. The Label Love sentiments are a fun way to add a sentiment to your card.

Next, I cut a piece of blue plaid cardstock from the Lawn Fawn Perfectly Plaid 6 x 6 paper pad. I had a hard time deciding on what color to use for my background but decided on the blue as it seemed to make the flowers and leaves on my image pop a bit more. My die cut piece measured 5 1/4 x 4.

Finally, I was ready to assemble everything. I used a top folding, white card base from 110 lb cardstock and adhered my blue plaid background. I added the die cut floral piece horizontally across the top half of the card with some dimensional foam to have some visual interest and play up the unique shape. Finally, I added the Thanks a Bunch sentiment at the bottom with some dimensional foam as well.

For a finishing touch, I added some of the Studio Katia sequins called Summer Fusion. I love the bright, summery colors of these sequins and they’re really small so they add just a hint of color and fun as an embellishment.
