A special Thank You!

Hey there krafty friends!

I have a special card that I created today as a thank you for my mother-in-law.

She was here for a very brief visit recently after a long weekend in Missouri with her sisters. I’d commented on a cute watch she was wearing because the face of the watch was a vibrant teal-blue color that caught my eye. She’d said that she’d picked it up in Arizona on their drive out and that it had come with the bracelet she was wearing which had teal beads and a gold cross on it.

Last Thursday when I arrived home from work I’d checked our mail and there was a package for me. I wasn’t expecting anything so I was surprised to open it and find that my mother-in-law had purchased the exact same watch and matching bracelet for me. She’d tucked a note inside that read, “Picked up the last one they had on our drive back home.”

It was such a nice surprise for me and so very thoughtful of her so I wanted to put together a cute little card as a way to thank her.

I picked The Greeting Farm’s Elena stamp. To me, this stamp just screams summertime in California with her cute little capri pants, tank top and the sunglasses resting on top of her head. I couldn’t wait to color her up and put her on my thank you card. TGF Elena for FFF 4.30.15

The teal on my new watch caught my eye so much that I decided to go with a teal-blue color and alternate it with a nice bright yellow-green.

For my base layer on the card I chose the teal and lime green cardstock from the Spellbinders Celebrations paper set and cut them using the Die-namics Vertical Stitched Strips. On top of those brightly colored strips, I added a stitched square out of Neenah Solar White cardstock from the Die-namics Blueprints 24 set. Then I cut a sheet of green checked paper from the Recollections Home Basics paper pad and layered that on top of my Neenah Solar white. After stamping Elena with Tsukineko Memento Tuxedo Black ink, I colored her up with my Copic markers and fussy cut her out. I put some dimensional foam stickers on the back to pop her off the page. For my sentiment I used one of the Spellbinders Conversation Bubble 3 dies and cut it out of Neenah Solar White cardstock and stamped the “HI” sentiment from the Bo Bunny Sentiments Stamp set. I added a small amount of the Cool Caribbean ink from the Spellbinders Celebrations collection to the edges of the conversation bubble and then put some clear Wink of Stella around it for sparkle. For my embellishments I added a little white textured button with some lime green bakers twine tied in a bow and two white enamel dots just above the button.

On the inside, I used a cute sentiment set from Avery Elle called Handwritten Notes and stamped the “You truly made my day” sentiment and a small “thank you” stamp underneath from Bo Bunny.

I’m so thrilled with how this card came out. I can’t wait to get it in the mail for my mother-in-law this week!

Hope you all have a wonderfully krafty week!
