A Wildflower Hello

Hello and welcome back!

As we celebrated the first day of Spring last week, I am excited to be playing with my new Dare 2B Artzy goodies. The new Countryside Floral Collection is perfect for celebrating Spring with all of the flowers and fun new images to color.

Today I am playing with the new Wildflower Garden stamp set.

To start my card, I cut a piece of Neenah 110lb of cardstock that measured 5 ½ x 6 inches.

I placed the cardstock in my MISTI on my sticky mat. Next, I lined up the large wildflower stamp image, placing it face down on my cardstock.

Using a pencil I carefully traced a light line all around the stamp. This will help me when I’m fussy cutting the image after coloring it. Unfortunately, this stamp set does not have a coordinating die, but it is very easy to fussy cut, or you could also use a Brother Scan-n-Cut to cut out the image if you have one.

I stamped the image with Dare 2B Artzy Totally Black ink.

Using my alcohol markers, I colored each of the flowers and leaves. I did use a rainbow of colors. I love the bright, cheerful colors of the flowers.

After I finished coloring, I used a lighter mid-tone blue marker and traced around all the flowers, flower stems and leaves.   Once I was done, I went in with the lightest blue color I had and colored in the entire background. This helps to fill in the white space and keeps the focus on the flowers. It really helps the flowers stand out.

Once the background was completely colored, I went back with several colors of markers in purple, orange, pink and just randomly placed small dots of color and in a few areas, I used a colorless blender to take away a bit of color. This just gives a bit of added interest and texture to the background behind the flowers. If you can picture small bugs, pollen and things floating around in a patch of wildflowers – that is what I was going for with the dots of color.

Next, I fussy cut the entire stamped image. The pencil line that I traced on my cardstock to outline the flowers was extremely helpful.

Once the background was cut out, I used the Scalloped Square from the Gift Bag and Box Die set. I cut a piece of yellow patterned paper from the Wildflowers in Bloom paper pack. Then I used the same die to cut a section of the wildflowers that I colored. This will create a scalloped border on 3 sides of the wildflowers, and it will line up perfectly with the previously die cut yellow cardstock. I layered the two pieces and adhered them together with some liquid glue.

After the wildflowers were cut from the scalloped square, I went back with 3 shades of green alcohol markers and added some light flicks of of the marker along the bottom edge to create the look of grass to ground the flowers a bit more.

Using some light-yellow cardstock from my stash, I used the largest Square Framelet Die and die cut the cardstock. I added my scalloped patterned paper and wildflowers to the die cut Square Framelet.

For the sentiment, I stamped the Hello from the new Bike Bouquet Stamp Set with some blue ink and heat embossed it with some clear embossing powder.

I die cut the embossed sentiment out and cut a few additional layers out to create some dimension for my sentiment. I glued each of the layers together and added it to the bottom of the colored wildflowers.

Up above the flowers, I stamped and colored the butterfly from the Bike Bouquet stamp set. Once finished, I die cut it and added above the flowers with a bit of dimensional foam.

For some final additions, I added some white Gelly Roll pen and some Gelly Roll Stardust pen for a bit of shimmer. I also added some bright blue gems among the wildflowers and scattered around on the yellow background.

I decided to leave the inside of the card blank for now, but this would be a perfect everyday card to brighten someone’s day or even a nice birthday card for someone.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you have enjoyed my card today and are excited to try out some of the newly released stamps in the Countryside Floral Collection over at Dare 2B Artzy. There are so many wonderful things in this release.
