Birthday Wishes with Dare 2B Artzy

Welcome back Artzy friends! I have a bright, cheerful birthday card to share with you today that was very easy to create.

To start I pulled out my Cupcake Die from Dare 2B Artzy. This is a detailed background die which can be used to create shakers, inlaid cards, etc.

I cut the background from 100 lb. Black cardstock. A great tip for using this die, it cuts perfectly if you have a magnetic or magic mat to cut into. I recommend using a newer cutting plate to ensure that all of the little bits and pieces just fall out when you run this through your die cutting machine. I have a spare Magic Mat that I used for this occasion.

Next, I ink blended a pastel rainbow background using 3 colors of Distress Oxide inks in Squeezed Lemonade, Worn Lipstick and Tumbled Glass. This combination of inks will create a perfect rainbow when ink blended together. On a second sheet of cardstock, I ink blended 3 colors of Distress Inks in Squeezed Lemonade, Picked Raspberry and Broken China. This gave me a rainbow that was a bit more vibrant for my second blend.

I die cut the first background with the Oxide inks using the coordinating Frame Die that comes with the Cupcake die set. This gave me a perfect stitched border background that measures 4 x 5 ¼ to place behind the die cut cupcake. It turned out so bright and colorful, I just love it!!

For the 2nd set of ink blending with the regular Distress Inks, I just positioned the cupcake die so that it would only cut the swirly top on the cupcake since I didn’t need the whole thing. I also cut this a 2nd time from some plain white cardstock. Using a bit of liquid glue, I inlayed the white cardstock into the sections that would be the top of the cupcake. It was very easy since they are on 5 peices that make up the top of the cupcake. Next, I inlaid the brightly colored cardstock that was blended with the Distress inks.

For the cupcake wrapper, I cut it from some pink cardstock from my stash and adhered it to the background.

I decided that the cupcake could use a bit of interest, so I stamped, colored and die cut a few single flowers from the Bouquet of Happiness and a group of flowers from the new Bike Bouquet and added them to the cupcake wrapper and the daisy to the top of the cupcake in place of the cherry.  Ooohh, that was a bit of a sneak peek of new stamps!!

I finished off the card panel by stamping and heat embossing the Birthday Wishes sentiment and placing it over the flowers on the cupcake wrapper.

It was a super simple card design, but the bright colors really bring the wow factor and will definitely brighten someone’s birthday.

Details for the products I used today are listed below.

Thanks so much for stopping by today
