Dare 2B Artzy December Challenge

Hello and happy Sunday to everyone! Hope you’ve had a wonderful weekend so far! It’s been nice here in Colorado but chilly. I think I’d rather have a bit of snow to get me into the holiday spirit.

It’s the 1st Sunday in December and that means that a new challenge is starting over on Dare 2B Artzy. The challenge for December is HOLIDAY FUN!

My card today features an older stamp that is one of my all time favorite Dare 2B Artzy holiday stamps. It is the Poinsettia Tangle stamp set. I just love this unique stamp set!

I created a clean and simple slimline card with a fun twist on my poinsettia. It’s blue and purple. I’ve always believed that poinsettias need to come in a wide array of colors outside of the traditional red and white. How fun would it be to have a purple poinsettia?

To create my card I started by stamping the poinsettia with some versamark ink onto my Canson 140 lb watercolor cardstock and heat setting with some silver sparkle embossing powder.

Next, I water colored using my Karin brush markers. I had to add the watercolor in several layers and allow it to dry in between so I could get a nice bold poinsettia color.

To add a bit of dimension and sparkle I added some clear glittery Stickles to the berries that I colored an orangey-pink. This created a gorgeous sparkle over my poinsettia center.

While I set my poinsettia aside to dry I used the Dare 2B Artzy trellis cover plate die to create an embossed background. To do that, I ran a piece of 110lb cardstock that I lightly spritzed with water through my electronic die cutting machine with rubber mat sandwich and the Dare 2B Artzy Trellis coverplate die. This created the embossed impression of the Trellis on my cardstock.

I cut the embossed panel down using one of the Dare 2B Artzy Wavy Slimline Framelets dies and then used the V-shaped border die from the Dare 2B Artzy Wavy Slimline Border Dies and cut the embossed background piece down to make it a focal panel to place my poinsettia image on.

Next, I cut another panel to layer underneath with some matte silver cardstock. I used the Wavy Slimline Framelets die again and use the V-shaped border again to create another layer that was just slightly larger than my embossed layer.

Finally I added a full base layer of 110lb cardstock which I cut once again with the smallest Wavy Slimline Framelet die. I stamped my sentiment, “Wishing you Joy in every Merry Moment” with my Versamark ink and heat set with some Hero Arts Violet Embossing powder.

For some finishing touches I added some clear and purple gems to my card panel which was added to a slimline card base that measures 8 1/2 by 3 7/8ths.

Hope you’ve enjoyed my card today. Be sure to check out the other December Challenge Inspiration projects from the Dare 2B Artzy design team over on Dare 2B Artzy’s blog and remember to link your projects for a chance to win a gift certificate to the Dare 2B Artzy store.
