Happy Fall Y’all!

Hello crafty friends!

I’m back today with another card for Dare 2B Artzy, and we’re celebrating all things Fall with the Abundant Blessings stamp and coordinating die set.

I absolutely love the images in this set because they are perfect for creating beautiful Fall cards. For today’s card, I created a fun bridge fold design featuring watercolored pumpkins and foliage, along with a floating sentiment for an extra special touch.

I started by stamping the image using black ink that is safe for watercoloring. I did heat set the stamped image just to be safe before beginning to color.

Next, I used liquid watercolors to color the pumpkins and foliage. I know the pumpkins aren’t colored in traditional Fall colors, but I thought this color combination created such a pretty Fall palette. Once the first layer of watercolor was dry, I went back in with additional color to add more depth, shading, and dimension.

After everything was completely dry, I used the coordinating die to cut out the image.

For the sentiment, I stamped Happy Fall Y’all with embossing ink and heat embossed it using some navy embossing powder from my stash. I then used the coordinating die to cut it out.

Creating the Bridge Fold Card

To create my card base, I cut a piece of dark blue cardstock to 8″ x 4 ¼”. I scored along the long edge at 1 ¼”, 2 ½”, 5 ½”, and 6 ¾”.

Next, I cut patterned paper to 4 ¼” x 1″ for the four outer scored sections. I used the leafy side of the Woodland Animals paper along with an older blue plaid paper from my stash. You could also use the Autumn Plaid paper for this part.

For the larger center section, I used the word side of the Let Hope Bloom paper, cut to 2 ¾” x 4 ¼”.

I glued all of the patterned papers onto their respective sections before folding along the score lines to create the bridge fold card.

I also added a piece of the decorative leafy edge to the center background using some scraps I had left over.

Adding the Focal Image

For a little extra shimmer, I decided to add some tiny iridescent gems to the focal image. I placed them on the small berries scattered throughout the design, and I love the subtle sparkle they add!

Once the glue for the gems was dry, I added liquid glue to the back left side of the image and adhered it to the left side of the bridge. I was careful to make sure there wasn’t any extra glue on the back that could touch the background when the card was folded flat. This is important so the focal image doesn’t accidentally stick to the card base.

I allowed the left side to dry completely. Then I folded the card flat to determine exactly where the right side of the image needed to be attached. I added glue to that area and adhered it to the right front-facing side of the bridge, holding it in place until the glue was dry.

Creating the Floating Sentiment

To adhere the sentiment, I cut a strip of acetate and added double-sided adhesive to the top and bottom using ⅛” Score-Tape.

I burnished the tape well and then peeled away the release paper from the top. I adhered the sentiment to the top of the acetate strip. Then I removed the release paper from the bottom and tucked the acetate behind the pumpkins, creating a fun floating sentiment!

If you’d like to write a personal note inside the card, you could add a piece of white cardstock to the back. This would also give you a perfect spot for adding another stamped sentiment along with your handwritten message.

This card came together very quickly and is surprisingly simple to create. I especially love that it folds completely flat and fits into an A2-sized envelope, making it perfect for mailing!
