Groovy Birthday Wishes & a Van
Hello Artzy friends!
I hope you are having a wonderful day! Today I am back with another card for Dare 2B Artzy. This card features the Groovy Van stamp set. I’ve been itching to play with this fun stamp set and the cool sentiments. I thought I would make a funky birthday card using this stamp set.
To start my card, I stamped and colored the little Groovy Van using my Sketch Markers Brush markers and die cut it using the coordinating die.
I cut a piece of heat resistant acetate to 4 ¼ x 5 ½ and used the Make Waves Hot Foil plate and hot foiled a piece of Rainbow Hot foil onto the clear acetate sheet.
Once I was finished foiling, I trimmed down the excess acetate so that the finished size was 4 x 5 ¼ inches.
To create a backdrop for the foiled acetate, I using some Distress Inks in Marigold, Mustard Seed and Squeezed Lemonade and ink blended the colors on to a piece of 110lb Neenah Solar White cardstock.
Using the Double Dot Circle Die, I cut 3 circles. Two from white cardstock and one from black cardstock. I added the Black cardstock circle to the front of the heat foiled acetate sheet with some double-sided tape. I added a bit of foam tape to the back of my die cut Groovy Van and placed it in the center of the die cut circle on the acetate.
To adhere the acetate to the ink blended background I used a piece of 1/8 inch Score-tape. In hindsight, it would have worked out better if I had kept the top end of the acetate longer and then I could have scored and folded it over to adhere it behind the ink blended panel.
After the acetate was adhered to the ink blended panel, I stamped the flower cluster and one of the single flowers onto one of the die cut white circles. I colored the flowers with my Sketch Markers.
On the additional white die cut circle, I stamped the sentiment, Think Hippie Thoughts. I used two colors of Dare 2B Artzy ink to stamp the word Hippie; Midnight Blue and Paradise Teal. To get the blended look between the two inks, I inked one half of the stamp and used my finger to blend out the harsh line before stamping the cardstock. Then I cleaned the stamp and inked it again on the other half with the other color. Can you say inky blue fingers, LOL?
When the two white circles were complete with my coloring and stamping, I added some Score-tape to the back and adhered the flowers directly behind the black circle on the acetate. The sentiment circle was added to the ink blended background.
Because I was a tad bit off on my alignment of the circles, I die cut the heart, star and a small flower to add to the edge of the circle on the front of the panel. This helps cover the hint of white that was showing from the inside circles.
Finally, I added the panel to a top folding A2 size card base cut from 110lb Neenah Solar White Cardstock using some dimensional foam.
On the inside of the card, I stamped the sentiment Have a Groovy Birthday using the same two-color blended stamping technique on the word Groovy.
For a finishing touch, I added some Pastel Frosted Drops to the center of my flowers with some liquid glue and I used a Jelly Roll Stardust pen to trace over the peace symbol and the headlights on the front of the Groovy Van.
That finishes up my fun and funky Birthday card featuring the Groovy Van and the Make Waves hot foil plate.
