Dare 2B Artzy August Challenge
Hello Artzy friends! Hope you are having a wonderful weekend wherever you are.
It is the first Sunday in August and that means it is time for a new Dare 2B Artzy Challenge to kick off the month.
This month’s theme is Fun Folds.
You can participate in the challenge by linking up your Fun Fold card in the links on today’s Dare 2B Artzy post. One lucky winner will win a gift card to the Dare 2B Artzy store.
For my card, I decided to try a Bridge Card which I saw from a Stampin-Up demonstration. I think this card design is perfect for showcasing all of the awesome Dare 2B Artzy patterned paper. This card is a modified A2 size card. In fact, it is the same size as an A2 card.
To start, cut a piece of cardstock that measures 5 ½ x 8 ½. This is a half-sheet of an 8 ½ x 11 piece of cardstock. You will score the cardstock at 4 ¼ to create a top folding A2 size card.
From the score line, you will measure 1 ¼ from either side of the open edge of the card and create another score line. On the front side of the card, you will cut along both score line marked at 1 ¼ inches up to the midway score line.
Once you have cut the score lines, you will have three flaps on the front of your card. Two outside flaps that are 1 ¼ inches wide and the center flap which will be 3 inches wide.
On the inside of the card, you will need to score from the top score line on each end 1 ¼ inches so you will have identical size sections on the inside of the card as you have on the front except that you will not cut them.
Next, you can decorate your flaps and the inside of the card. All the patterned paper I used is from the Everything is Blooming variety pack along with some solid cardstock from my stash that happened to coordinate.
The sides will need:
Base Layer: cut two each, 1 1/8 x 4 1/8 inches
Top Layer: cut two each, 1 x 4 inches
The Center will need
Center Layer: cut 1, 2 7/8 x 4 1/8 inch
Middle Layer: cut 1, 2 1/2 x 3 3/4 inches.
Sentiment Layer: cut 1, 2 1/8 x 3 3/8
Acetate piece: cut 1, 1 x 5 ½ inch – this is adhered behind the side flaps to add stability.
You will repeat the above sizes for the inside of the card, but you can customize as needed for adding a written message or additional sentiment.
NOTE: I used the scalloped layer from the Center Step Die for my sentiment layer, I just cut it once and then went back and cut off one end, so it was a little shorter to fit on the center of the card.
You can repeat the above for the inside of the card. I also added patterned paper to the back side of the front flaps. I did this to cover up the 1-inch strip of acetate that needs to be adhered to the inside, bottom of the front side flaps. This is to provide stability so that you can stand the card up a bit better.
Once you have the card decorated with your patterned paper of choice you can add your sentiment to the front or the inside and then decorate the side panels.
I chose to use two of the flowers from the Breezy Blossoms stamp set for the side flaps on the front of my card which I colored using ink blending with Distress Inks and then I heat embossed a sentiment from the Soar Stamp set.
On the inside of my card, I created a blank space for writing a personal message and just added some leaf’s die cuts from the Breezy Blossoms Coordinating Die set.
That finishes my card for the August Fun Folds card challenge. Again, be sure you link up your own cards for the challenge for your chance to win s gift card.
If you do not want to manufacture a card like this Dare 2B Artzy has several fun fold die sets that you can use to create some unique cards. I will link all of them below as well.

Have a krafty day!
