February Challenge at Dare 2B Artzy

Hello crafty friends! Happy Sunday! I really have no idea where January went. I feel like we blinked on New Years and poof it’s February already.

Who’s ready for a new challenge from Dare 2B Artzy? ME, ME, ME!!

This month’s challenge them is LOVE! Of course, February is cupid’s month. We’re a week away from Valentines so I know you are all making those last minute V-Day cards! Now is your chance to enter your project in this month’s challenge!

The card I created for the challenge features the amazing new Slim Mini Heart background die and one of the cute little creatures from the Cosmic Creatures Stamp Set. Both of these are from the latest release over at Dare 2B Artzy.

To start, I cut the Mini Heart Background die from some 110lb Neenah cardstock. I also trimmed down a piece of grey cardstock from my stash to match the same size.

I used the large heart from the Slim Mini Heart background and ink blended on some red ink and set it aside to dry a little.

Next, I cut another Mini Heart Background from some of the new Mystical Mermaids paper. I used the red striped background.

There are 6 small hearts that cut when you run the Mini Heart Background through your die cutting machine. I had one set of white and one set with stripes. I glued the striped hearts to the plain white hearts with some liquid glue to give them some dimension.

I added liquid glue to the Mini Heart background and added it to the front of my trimmed grey cardstock. Next, I added in my little striped hearts and my ink blended center heart.

I colored 3 of the Cosmic Creature stamps with the intention of using all 3 on this card but I decided 3 was a crowd for this small card. I ended up using the one with his arm waving in the air. I used the leftover large striped heart and glued it behind the top portion of my critter to make it look like he was holding the heart above his head.

I die cut the Love You Double Layered word die from Dare 2B Artzy 3 times. I cut it from two scraps of cardstock and one layer of purple cardstock and glued all the layers together.

Once the layers were dry, I trimmed the Love and You out separately and adhered them to the striped heart.

This is going to date me a bit, but in my head while I was making this card; I was picturing John Cusack from the movie Say Anything (circa 1989) where he’s holding the boom box over his head outside his girlfriends house. Great movie, just sayin!

My little Cosmic Critter doesn’t have a boom box (but that would be cute too), but he’s got a big heart and lots of love, LOL! I added him to the center of the large heart on the background with some dimensional foam to pop him up.

I used the large scalloped background from the Mini Heart Background die set and cut that from some more of the striped paper from Mystical Mermaids and added my panel to it with some dimensional foam.

My panel was added to a mini slimline card base made from 110lb cardstock using some additional dimensional foam.

I added a few tiny white gems to the ends of the little swirls on the background for a finishing touch.

Now it’s your turn! Dare 2B Artzy would LOVE to see what you create!!
