Witch Way is the Candy? Good question…

Hi All! Happy, happy Monday!

Hope everyone had a great weekend. Mine was good – both crafty and productive. I’ve been off work for a few days taking some vacation time and was able to finish up several cards I was working on. Plus hubby and I spent yesterday cleaning out and reorganizing our garage. A task that was long overdue. We purged a huge car load full of stuff so that makes me happy. Now the garage is clean and organized – hopefully to stay that way for a long while.

So I wanted to pop in today to share one of the cards I finished up this weekend. When I first laid eyes on this stamp set from My Favorite Things called Witch Way is the Candy by Birdie Brown, I was in love. I just think she’s the cutest little witch ever. Plus this stamp set has 3 cute little critters that come with it (a frog, a bat and a cat) in addition to some pumpkins, a moon and clouds. All that plus it has 4 different sentiments with it. Of course one of the sentiments asks, “Witch way is the Candy?”. That’s the question everyone wants to know for Halloween, am I right?

To create my card I used my Copics to color my candy hungry little witch and then created a simple mask to put the frog on top of a pumpkin from the set and colored it with my Copics as well.

I did add some Wink of Stella glitter to the witch’s hat band and the trim on her boots.  Finally, I fussy cut them out and set them aside.

For my background I knew I wanted to incorporate the Trick or Treat die cut which is also from My Favorite Things but it came out last year I believe so if you’re wanting it you might have to shop around a bit for it on Ebay or something as I don’t believe it’s carried any longer on the MFT site. I die cut the Trick or Treat out of some basic black card stock. Next I cut a piece of purple glitter cardstock a bit larger than my trick or treat and layered them together with some good liquid glue. Then I added another layer under the purple glitter, this time using some orange cardstock. I added a little black bat brad to the corner to give it a bit of dimensional interest.

I didn’t want to do a plain old background for this card and I was excited to finally be able to use my burlap 6×6 stack for this card. I originally thought I’d get some burlap and try to die cut it but I found that doesn’t work very well because of the fraying – huge disappointment. However, it came in handy for something as simple as the square panel background for this card. I cut it to size to fit my card which is 5 3/4 x 5 and glued it to my white cardstock base.

Next I added my layered Trick or Treat sentiment and glued it in the center of the card and placed my witch and my frog on either side of the sentiment.

For a bit of bling, I added some little black gems to the card panel as well.

Inside I used the “Which way to the Candy?” sentiment stamped with some black Versafine ink.

I love, love, love how cute this card turned out. It’s one of those instances where the final product turned out better than what I had in mind. Yay!

This little card will be shipped off in the mail to a dear friend this year for their Halloween enjoyment.

Hope you enjoyed my card creation! I’ll have a couple more Halloween surprises in store over the next couple of weeks, plus a couple of other non-Halloween cards as well.

Off to get my brain switched into Thanksgiving and Christmas mode as I’m behind the eight ball in the crafting world for getting a jump start on my holiday card making. Eek! I’m off to the crafting grindstone as they say, LOL!
