Happy Middle of the Week!

Hi All –

Happy Wednesday! We’re half way through the work week – yay!

Today is a special day as it’s my wonderful hubby’s Birthday! I wanted to share with you the very sexy, sassy card that I made for his special day.

For this card I used a digi image from Sassy Studio Designs and she is called Curvy Lingerie Sassy.

I colored her using my Copic markers. I added a touch of clear Wink of Stella to her lingerie and a tiny bit of bling on her bra with a colored gem. Once I was finished coloring I cut her out, added some dimensional foam to pop her off the card and mounted her to a piece of card stock cut from a stack from DCWV called Street Lace. The card stock was 12 x 12 which I cut down to just the section that included some black lace and I used the largest of Pierced Rectangles from Spellbinders Celebrations to cut it out. The pierced rectangle ended up being 4 1/8 x 5 3/8. I then mounted that on a burgundy piece of card stock from Michael’s Recollections paper which was cut an 1/8′ larger.
I stamped the birthday sentiment from a W Plus 9 stamp set called Unforgettable (which is an adorable set that features elephants & balloons). I die cut the sentiment with a die from the Spellbinders Twisted Metal & Tags set and then distressed the edges with a little Tim Holtz Black Soot Distress Ink.. My sentiment was added to the card with a little dimensional foam.
For embellishments I added a few grey pearls as accent in the corners and then cut a bow from some sheer burgundy ribbon (which happened to be left over from our wedding 4+ years ago).
I kept the inside of the card simple with a stamped Happy Birthday sentiment from the Stampin Up Sassy Salutations set (which I love – the set is so versatile. It is definitely worth the money if you can get your hands on one as it is retired I believe. I purchased mine from Ebay).
Anyway, I am very pleased with how the card turned out. My husband loved it and is displaying it on his desk.
The past couple of days the mail box has been jam-packed with happy mail. I thought I’d share a few of my goodies with you.
Blitsy was having a sale on the new Bloom Girls stamps a few weeks ago and I was lucky enough to get my hands on these two beauties:

The stamp on the left with the hummingbird is called Anneli and the stamp on the right is called Catrina.

These are the very first Bloom Girl stamps I’ve purchased. I was actually shocked by the size of these stamps. Anneli measures 5 3/4″ x 7″ and Catrina measures approx 6 x 7″. So if your used to using the smaller stamps, a word to the wise, these are big, big stamps. As you may be able to tell from the picture, my largest clear stamp block measures 6 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ so the stamps are a bit bigger than my stamp block. I’ve seen a lot of very cool mixed media done with the Bloom Girl stamps. I’m going to play a bit with them and see what kind of trouble I can get into. Although, as my husband suggested, I could always stamp it with black ink and then scan the image and scale it down to put it on a card if I wanted. That is always an option. Never be afraid to try something new as I always say. Hopefully I’ll have something cool to show you with these stamps very soon. Stay tuned.

The other two items I wanted to share are also stamps. The first one is from Kenny K. It’s called Teen Style. I admit I don’t have kids, but I couldn’t get over how cute the girl in this set was dressed and figured I’d be able to put her on some sort of card. For those of you not familiar with Kenny K, he has a line of digi stamps on his website at KennyK Downloads.com. He’s got a pretty wide variety of digital stamps available for sale. He also sells a limited number of clear polymer stamps on KennyK Stamps.com for those of you that like to have the actual stamp in hand (like me).

And lastly I got this cutie from Saturated Canary called Cocoa. I hadn’t seen her before and thought she might make a good warm and fuzzy card for this crazy winter we’re having.

Well that’s my happy mail for this week. Not too shabby, huh?

I’d like to start sharing with you what projects, crafts, classes I’m working on with each of my blog posts. I feel like it’s always good to be thinking and planning ahead and having something to look forward to in our daily grind. For me crafting, coloring and learning new skills is a great outlet for stress.

So what am I working on?
1. Finishing organizing my dies and labeling them so that I can put them into something resembling order.
2. Working on my Copic Skin & Hair class I’m taking over at Kit & Clowder online. If you are interested in learning the full potential of your Copic markers I highly recommend taking one of the classes there. You will learn so much from the classes there.
3. I’ll be working on a birthday card & a get well card for my Father-in-Law who will be going in for surgery on 3/16. His birthday is on 3/17 ironically. We’re praying that everything comes out OK for him.

That’s my crafty To Do List for the upcoming week.

Hope you all have a Krafty week!
