Dare 2B Artzy February Challenge
Hello and happy February! Some of you may be scratching your head wondering where January went? I’m asking myself the same thing, but I’m happy that today I’m here to celebrate the month of LOVE with a new Dare 2B Artzy Challenge!! Whoo-hoo!! Of course, our theme for this month’s challenge is…
My card for the challenge was quick and simple, but still fun to create with this theme.
To start, I used some specialty paper for blending alcohol inks and pulled out some pink, orange alcohol inks and a silver mixative and my blending tool with the felt square on it. I added my ink directly to the felt on the blending tool and then added a few drops of the silver mixative. Once I was happy with the amount of color on my felt, I used my Alcohol Ink Blending solution and put a generous stripe of blending solution onto the felt over the ink colors.
Then I did a simple swiping solution from side to side to get the ink onto the paper. I colored a full A2 size of the specialty cardstock and then went over it a second time to get a better mix of the colors. The beauty of the alcohol inks is that you can continue to add more and more color and the paper continues to change and evolve with each layer. A bit of a warning though, they are a bit addictive because it’s so easy to create a stunning background.
Once my piece was dry, I was able to die cut a heart shape out of the paper. Next, I placed the inked heart into my MISTI and used the 3 sizes of flowers from the Butterfly Kisses stamp set and stamped them on my heart with Versamark and heat embossed them with orange and pink embossing powder. I think the color on color with the heart looks really cool!
To create the background for my card, I used one of the awesome new Dare 2B Artzy Mixed Media stencils called Corner Flower Stencil. I used a strip of white cardstock and sponged on some pink and orange ink. The flowers in this stencil match the flowers from the Butterfly Kisses stamp set perfectly. I love how they coordinate.
I paired up my sponged floral background with some of the gorgeous new Dare 2B Artzy papers from the Summertime Florals collection. I used the pink checkered and the pink and white floral. I really love the pink colors on these papers. They’re so pretty! I layered the papers with some foam to give the card some dimension.
For my sentiment, I used the Dare 2B Artzy, Love You die cut and cut the script portion with some shimmery hot pink cardstock and paired it with a black background. The black background really makes the script love you pop! I popped up the die cut sentiment on my card front using some dimensional foam.
I added everything to a black card base and placed a white panel inside to write my sentiment on.
For a finishing touch, I added some white pearls to the card front. I really love how this card turned out! I think it’s a very pretty, spring-like Valentines card. Perfect for someone special!
