Harvest Challenge with Spellbinding Stamps

Where has the time gone this year? Hard to believe that it’s already November and Christmas is just a few weeks away! Every year I have the best intentions of being prepared for the holidays and having all my shopping & cards done, but it never seems to happen. I do have a few gifts purchased for Christmas but haven’t even scratched the surface on the cards. Guess I’d better get crackin’!
Today I’m here to share my latest DT project for Spellbinding Stamps. This weeks challenge is about the Harvest. What comes to mind when you think of harvest? Beautiful fall colors, pumpkin patches, corn stalks, cornucopia’s. Anything harvest related is the name of the game for this challenge.
For my card I used the digi stamp Rowena with her cute little dragon.
When I think of a harvest theme, I think of the warmth of colors and the brilliant hues of all the leaves. This time of year is absolutely my favorite time. I pulled the warmth of the fall harvest into my card by keeping with a warm color palate using browns, orange, green, yellow and a bit of burgundy.

I colored Rowena with my Copics. I have provided a listing of all the colors I’ve used at the bottom of this post just in case you’d like a reference point for your own cards and projects. I did fussy cut her out and added quite a bit of Wink of Stella clear to her wings and the dragon’s wings as well.
Since Rowena and her dragon were sitting on a tree branch, I wanted to give the impression that she was sitting above a pumpkin patch in her perch.
I used the die from Avery Elle called Wonky Stitches and cut a piece of brown plaid cardstock that was 4 1/2 x 7. The Wonky Stitches die just cuts a square with the stitching on the outer edge. Since I wanted my plaid cardstock to look like a picture frame I cut out the center of the die cut with an Xacto knife. Then I layered my frame on top of a piece of cardstock that was the same size that had a picture of a pumpkin patch.

Next I used my Stitched Leaves die from Lawn Fawn and cut a bunch of leaves using several different patterned paper with a touch of gold in it and solid papers and then paired them up to figure out what worked best with the color scheme of my card. I glued them in place on the corners of my card base and then glued the pumpkin patch and frame on top of them.

I layered Rowena and her dragon on top of the frame overlooking the pumpkin patch in the background using some dimensional foam tape.
To finish my card I used the Wishing You Harvest Blessings sentiment from the My Favorite Things Harvest Mouse stamp set. I stamped it onto some Neenah Solar White cardstock using some black Versafine ink and die cut it with a banner die from My Favorite Things Die-Namics Blueprints #24. I added some distress ink around the edge of my sentiment with some Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink. For a finishing touch added two little gemstone embellishments on my sentiment. I added a double layer of dimensional foam tape to the back of my sentiment and placed it in the lower right corner of the card.
