Spring is in the Air
Hello all!
Wow, it’s been a while since I’ve blogged. March was kind of a tough month after my father-in-laws procedure. We did get the news we were dreading. He was diagnosed with bladder cancer. It was a big blow to all of us. They did not remove the tumor because this type of cancer can be very aggressive if removed and it would spread so they are leaving it as is and he will undergo chemotherapy treatments soon. So far his doctors and what we’ve heard is that if they treat it aggressively to make sure it doesn’t spread he can live a very long life. We’re all hoping and praying for him that they are correct.
I had a couple of Easter cards I wanted to share with you today. First is the card that I made for my BFF, David.
This image is from Tiddly Inks and is called Wryn Somebunny Loves You. I fell in love with this little cutie when I saw it because of the adorable bunnies that are in the image. I’m a sucker for cute and fluffy everyday – just ask my husband.
I colored her up using Copic markers and then put her on this bright, spring swirly paper by Momenta that I scored from my dear, crafty friend Carisa. Then I used the teal colored paper from the Spellbinders Celebrations Paper Collection for the background. I have a pack of the assorted paper from this collection and I just love the vibrant colors that are available but you can also order it in the individual color packs as well.
The cute little, script hello at the bottom of the card is from Simon Says Stamp Handwritten Borders stamp set. This stamp set is actually one of my favorites because it’s so versatile.
Then I just added a few iridescent sequins in pink for some sparkle plus it also makes the pink flowers in the background paper pop out.
This was such a fun card to make.
The second card I wanted to share was the card that I made my parents for Easter. My mom had said she wanted something with a fairy. I know that a fairy Easter card is very non-traditional but I thought that this cute digi called Fairy Fae also from Tiddly Inks fit the bill with her cute dress and bouquet of flowers.

Once I was finished coloring her, I tried to match her wings to some paper. I found an 6×6 paper pack in my stash that had a nice green ombre sheet that happened to match perfectly.
Both papers are from the American Crafts Lucky Charm paper pack. There are lots of really cute papers in this set.
To finish the card off I added some pastel flowers from Recollections paper flower packs sold at Michaels and some I-Rock Imaginisce pearls to the corners.
She’s so very spring-like and cute. I think she made the perfect Easter card and my mom loved it which is what I’d hoped.
Finally I wanted to leave you with a picture of the happy mail that I received for Easter. I got this adorable card in the mail from my friend Carisa Zglobicki. It absolutely made my day! I couldn’t get over how cute it was.
I’m in love, love with the paper and dies she used for the card. Plus it’s got cute and fluffy bunnies so that makes me happy as well. This card is proudly being displayed on my desk in my home office.
I’m so blessed to have a crafty friend like Miss Carisa to trade tips and tricks and to share our love of crafting. I’ve learned so much from her and I’m in awe of her talent and skills! You can see all of her amazing projects and cards and give her some blog-lovin over at her blog Inky Fairy Designs.
I’ve learned that so many crafters don’t send out their hand made creations. I say you should go-for-it! Getting some happy mail in the form of a hand made card is the best! I can’t think of a better way to put a smile on someones face.
Well my krafty friends. I have the house to myself today as my dear hubby and his nephew have gone off to the Denver Auto Show for the day. I’m left alone to my own devices – look out!
This week I’m working on:
1. Still working on my Skin & Hair class from Kit & Clowder. Trying to finish it so I can move on to the clothing class.
2. An anniversary card for my parents
3. Maybe squeeze in a little coloring for myself – something to put into my art journal. I picked up some new Copic colors and I’m itching to try out some new color combos.
Take some time to be Krafty today!
