Cue the Confetti, A Dare 2B Artzy Birthday Card!

Welcome back crafty friends! I have a new card project to share for Dare 2B Artzy.  I have a YouTube video for today’s card. You can check that out at the link below:

I think that as crafters it is always good when you purchase a product that can be used in multiple ways when you are creating cards and projects.

The Simply Birthday stamp set from Dare 2B Artzy is one of those stamp sets that is very versatile. It is a Birthday card builder set with Happy Birthday written in 11 different font styles plus several supporting sentiments like belated, wishes, to you, with love, etc. It is a great set for pairing block fonts with cursive to create the perfect singular birthday message or to use it as I did for today’s card as a background builder.

To start my card, I used a 4 ¼ x 5 ½ piece of white cardstock and began picking out various styles of the Happy Birthday words from the Simply Birthday stamp set and arranging them on the white cardstock. I found it easiest to start with the largest block style Happy Birthday placed sort of in the center of my cardstock and build out from there. Each birthday message was stamped with a very light ink. I used Gina K’s Whisper Amalgam ink which is typically used for no-line coloring. I did have to stamp each birthday sentiment several times for it to show but the ink dries back to be very subtle. I continued stamping the happy and birthday for the various font styles and used smaller ones to help fill in gaps by turning them horizontal or vertical on my cardstock until I had a fully stamped background.

Once my background was completed, I used the 2nd largest Rectangle Framelets die from Dare 2B Artzy that measures 3 ½ x 4 ¾ and cut down the background so that it would have a nice pierced finished edge. After I cut the background down, I used a Gelly Roll Stardust pen and used it to trace the larger block letters on some of the sentiments to create a soft shimmer on some of the background.

Next, I stamped and colored the cake and banners from the Stamptember Dare 2B Artzy set called Slice of Cake. This set was a limited-edition release in September 2023. If you were lucky enough to get one, it is a great stamp set for creating a fun birthday card. I am hoping that Dare 2B Artzy might be releasing a set that is very similar to this in 2024. Fingers crossed.

Once my images were colored, I cut them out using the coordinating die set.

The slice of cake needed a soft background to diffuse the stamped background that I created so I used the Oval Framelets dies from Dare 2B Artzy and cut a piece of vellum with the 4-inch oval. Next, I created a frame for my vellum using the 4-inch oval and the 3 ½ inch oval. I taped both dies in place with a piece of EZ C Highlighter tape (my go to for holding dies in place), onto a piece of blue cardstock and ran them through my die cutting machine. This creates a nice ¼ inch frame for my vellum oval. I glued the frame to the vellum using some Bearly Arts Liquid Glue and placed it onto the center of my stamped background.

For my stamped and colored banners, I used a white Gelly Roll pen to draw some patterns on the colored banners for added interest. I arranged them onto my background so that they would overlap the oval a bit.

Once the banners were adhered down with some 1/16 inch redline tape, I added the colored slice of cake to the oval with a bit of dimensional foam to pop it up a bit.

For the sentiment, I stamped, and die cut the Make a Wish sentiment from the Slice of Cake stamp set and added it to the card panel with a double layer of dimensional foam.

I did add a bit of shimmer to the cake with my Gelly Roll Stardust pen for the candle, flower and the decoration on the piece of chocolate.

The completed background stamped background and cake were added to a coordinating blue piece of cardstock that I cut with the Rectangle Framelets die. The background measures 4 x 5 ¼.

To finish off the card, I added some colorful clay confetti sprinkles to the background.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope that this inspires you to try out the Simply Birthday stamp set to create some fun sentiments or build a unique background.

I will have all of the available products used for this card linked below.  Since the Slice of Cake stamp set was limited edition, I will link to some of my other favorite birthday stamps and die sets from Dare 2B Artzy below.

Have a great day!

Hugs,
