Blooming Amazing

Hello and welcome! I hope you are having a wonderful day!

Today I have a new card to share for Dare 2B Artzy. This card was very easy to pull together and it’s not complicated.

I was channeling my inner Yana Smakula this weekend and decided to try out her coloring tip to color the entire card background. This technique is best tried with alcohol markers and to do the background you will need to use a marker that is very full and juicy.

To start, I stamped the flowers from the Breezy Blossoms stamp set onto some Neenah 110lb Solar White Cardstock. Each flower was stamped using Dare 2B Artzy Totally Black ink.

While this technique can get very complicated if you want to create masks for the stamps and layer up the flower images, I decided not to do that with today’s card.

I did use the small individual flower from the Breezy Blossoms stamp set and I stamped that a few more times around the flower images just to add a bit of filler for some of the white space.

Next, I colored all of the flower images using my Copic Markers. The colors used are listed below:

Leaves: G09, G14, YG67

Orange Flower: YR07, YR16, YR14, YR12, Y13 and E18

Pink Flowers: R24, R22, R21, RV25, RV23, RV21, RV66, RV55, RV04, RV63

Once all of the flowers and leaves were colored, I used an OLO Marker in BG 0.7 and began carefully outlining all of the flower and leaves. I went around each image a couple of times.

Since my cardstock was white, it takes a few layers to completely cover up the white cardstock and make it look uniform. You could do the same technique with a light pastel colored cardstock and the background coloring would be a bit easier.

After all of the images were outlined, I could then comfortably fill in the rest of the white space without worrying about my marker bleeding into my flowers or accidentally coloring into an image.

I ended up going over the background a couple of times until I was happy with the coverage.

Coloring the entire background makes the brightly colored flowers really pop and it also exposes any areas that are missed when coloring the flowers. I went back and touched up a couple of little white spots on the flowers.

Once the coloring was finished, I used the largest Stitched Rectangle Framelets die to cut out the background. The die cut background was 4 x 5 ¼. I love the stitched detail that the die gives.

Next, I stamped the You are Blooming Amazing sentiment with Dare 2B Artzy Totally Black ink. I used the small Square Die that comes with the Strawberry Vine Die set and cut out the sentiment.

I cut the scalloped backer from the Strawberry Vine Die set from some iridescent vellum and added my sentiment to that and adhered it with some dimensional foam to my card panel.

The background was added to a piece of orange cardstock which was cut to 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 so it leaves a nice narrow frame around the background.

The background was added to a top folding A2 Card base made from Neenah 110lb Solar White Cardstock.

As a finishing touch, I used a white Jelly Roll pen and added some highlights to some of the flowers and flower centers for the smaller flowers.

For a bit of bling, I added several Pixie Dust Ombre Glitter Drops with some liquid glue.

I absolutely love how this card turned out and the flowers absolutely pop against the colored background and it worked really well with the Breezy Blossoms stamp set. I think this technique would be very cool using some of the Totally Tracy Stamps also like Creative Escape or Be Strong.

Thanks so much for stopping by. All of the products used in today’s card are linked below for your convenience.

Hugs,

Tonya
