Let Hope Bloom
Welcome back crafty friends!
I have another new card to share today for Dare 2B Artzy. This card features another new stamp set from the Spring release called Let Hope Bloom.
For today’s card, I decided once again to use the Hexagon Nestable Die set but in a bit of a different way. Clearly I am in love with this new die set.
To start, I stamped both of the large floral stamps from the Let Hope Bloom stamp set onto some watercolor paper. I stamped with a watercolor ink so that the image would not bleed when I applied water.
Using some distress inks, I smooshed some inks onto my glass craft suface starting with Picked Raspberry, Wilted Violet and Spiced Marmalade. I sprayed a small amount of water onto the glass surface as well and began to pick up water and then some of ink to color in my floral images. I started with the Wilted Violate and then transitioned to Picked Raspberry and finally the Spiced Marmalade.
Once the flowers were complete I cleaned the glass mat and started the same process for the leaves. This time using some Evergreen Bough and a bit of Cracked Pistacio.
Finally, I colored the small flowers with Mustard Seed.
Once the image was completely colored, I used the Broken China to color the entire background around all of the flowers and leaves.
With everything colored, I went back in with a few colored pencils and a blender to even out some of the areas on the flowers and leaves.
After I was finished, I used the smallest hexagon die from the Hexagon Nestables and cut out as much of the flowers and leaves as I could. I ended up with 7 images, but one I couldn’t use because I made a mistake while die cutting it and the other just didn’t work with the layout.
I pieced the images together so that they would look like they belonged as part of a larger picture, kind of like you would do for a puzzle.
Once I had the layout of my hexagons, I cut the largest rectangle from the Rectangle Framelets die set from some dark blue-green cardstock and added it to a top folding A2 card base cut from Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Solar White cardstock.
I took the next smallest rectangle from the framelets die which measures 3 ¾ x 5 and cut a piece of the Sweet as Honey paper and used the side with the light green leaves. I cut the strip twice so that it would be a strip of paper that was about 1 ¼ inch wide with the dotted piercing on it. Next, I cut the striped decorative strip from the top of the Let Hope Bloom paper and used the same Rectangle Framelet die to add the dotted piercing on the edge.
I adhered both strips to the left side of my background.
Using dimensional foam, I popped up each of the hexagons on the other side of the panel and arranged them to form the completed picture.
Finally, I stamped and heat embossed the sentiments, Let HOPE and the Bloom and die cut them with the coordinating die.
I added the sentiments to the bottom of the panel with some dimensional foam as well.
For a finishing touch, I added some blue-green iridescent gems to the hexagons.
That finishes my card for today. I hope that you found some inspiration in today’s card.
Thanks so much for stopping by. I will have all of the products used in today’s card listed and linked below for your convenience.
