An Acetate Card with the new Little Wonders Stamp & Die

Hello friends, and welcome back!

I’m excited to share another card featuring a brand-new stamp and die set from Dare 2B Artzy. Today’s project highlights the adorable Little Wonders stamp set, which includes nine sweet images to color—two gorgeous butterflies, a dragonfly, a ladybug, and a snail—along with four coordinating sentiments.

This card was inspired by Brandy Burke, who recently shared some beautiful acetate cards. I loved the floating effect she created and decided to try my own version using the Nested Hexagons die set and the fabulous new scrapbook papers from the Nature’s Whimsey release.

Creating the Acetate Base

To begin, I cut a piece of heavyweight, heat-resistant acetate to 5½” x 8½” and scored it at 4¼” on the long side to create an A2-sized card base.

Die Cutting the Hexagons

I used four sizes from the Nested Hexagons dies for this design:

  • 3¾” hexagon – cut from the Let Hope Bloom paper for the inside sentiment layer
  • 3⅜” scalloped hexagons (2) – one from the floral side of Let Hope Bloom and one from the plaid side of the Little Wonders paper
  • 2¾” hexagon – cut from Neenah Solar White 110 lb cardstock for the stamped sentiment
  • 2¼” hexagons (2) – cut from white cardstock to feature the colored images on the front and inside

Stamping & Coloring

I stamped and colored the large butterfly, the ladybug, and all of the flower images from the set. After coloring, I used the coordinating dies to cut everything out.

Assembling the Card

I adhered the largest hexagon to the inside right panel of the acetate card, centering it carefully. On top of that, I layered the white hexagon stamped with the sentiment: “So Glad You Fluttered Into My Life.”

Next, I positioned the front scalloped hexagon so it aligned perfectly with the inside layer. This alignment creates the illusion that the design is floating within the card.

On the inside left panel, I added the second scalloped hexagon. Since acetate can be a bit stiff and tricky to work with, I used heavy magnets to hold the card steady while I adjusted and aligned the layers behind the front panel.

Once all the patterned paper hexagons were in place, I adhered the colored images to the smaller white hexagons and added a bit of dimensional foam for depth.

Finishing Touches

To complete the card, I added small semi-clear iridescent gems to the butterfly and flower centers for a subtle sparkle.

This card was so much fun to create, and I absolutely love the floating effect! As you might imagine, photographing acetate is always a challenge—I did my best, though the pictures truly don’t capture how lovely it looks in person.

Thank you so much for stopping by! I’ll have all the products linked below for your convenience.

Hugs,
Tonya
