Hero Arts Candy Cane Season – Day 3

Hello and welcome back!
Today I’m sharing my third and final card featuring the Hero Arts Candy Cane Season suite of products.

One of my favorite things about this collection is how effortlessly all the pieces work together to create festive holiday cards. Today’s design is fairly simple, but it really highlights the Candy Cane Season sentiment die as the focal point.

I started with an ink-blended background using the Candy Cane Toss Up layering stencil set. For a bit of depth, I kept the blending darkest around the edges and lighter toward the center.

Once the panel was blended, I used the scalloped die from the Detail Fancy Edge Die set to trim both the left and right sides, creating a lovely scalloped border. I then trimmed the top and bottom to 4 inches to align everything with the scalloped width. Behind this, I layered a slightly wider piece of light teal-blue glitter cardstock cut with the same scalloped die to layer behind and peek out from the scalloped edges.

To ground the background and add more color, I cut a bright pink cardstock panel to 4″ x 5 ¼” and added stitched detailing on each side using the stitching die from the same Detail Fancy Edge set. I then mounted the ink-blended panel on top using dimensional foam.

For the focal sentiment, I wanted the Candy Cane Season die to really shine. I first cut the shadow layer from light teal cardstock as a base. Then, I cut two more shadow layers from bright pink cardstock. Using the coordinating die, I carefully cut out the letters from both pink pieces—making sure to keep the pink outlines intact—and glued them together for a double-thick outline.

To finish the sentiment, I cut the letters again from light teal glitter cardstock and inlaid them one by one into the pink outline frame. This was definitely a bit fussy, but my pick-up stick and the blunt end of a tool really helped position each piece. Once the letters were in place, I glued the finished sentiment to the card with foam adhesive for dimension. I also remembered to add the tiny center pieces of the A’s for a clean, finished look.

To embellish, I added two silver holly leaves and topped the holly berries with three alcohol marker-colored gems to match the cardstock.

I absolutely love how this card turned out—the inlaid sentiment adds such a striking touch in real life that photos just can’t quite capture. While the overall design is clean and simple, the sentiment truly takes center stage.

The versatility of the Candy Cane Season suite means I’ll be reaching for these products again and again for future holiday cards. The only items I didn’t use this time were the Candy Cane Fancy Die set and the A Little Merri-mint Stamp & Cut set, which offers additional sentiment options. I’ll link those below if you’re looking to expand your collection.

Thanks for stopping by and happy crafting! I hope you are inspired to check out the Candy Cane Season products from Hero Arts.

Hugs,

Tonya
