Create Stunning Cards with Simple is Beautiful Stamp Set
Hello and welcome!
I am glad you stopped by today! I have a new card to share featuring a brand-new stamp set from Dare 2B Artzy called Simple is Beautiful.
This stamp set features a large focal image of florals and a secondary smaller image with some greenery, an acorn and a small flower. It is the perfect stamp set for both Summer cards and will work well for Fall also.
There are 8 sentiments that are included with the stamp set and you can mix and match them to create the perfect sentiment for your cards.
There is a coordinating die set as well that cuts out all of the images and sentiments.
For my card, I decided to try to do a spotlight stamping with the large floral image. It is a technique that I have always wanted to try but just hadn’t.
I stamped the large floral image using a piece of Ranger Distress Watercolor paper. I like this because it’s conveniently pre-cut and it works well for simple water coloring. I used Dare 2B Artzy’s Totally Black ink because it works for watercolor as well.
After stamping, I quickly heat set the ink just to be sure there wouldn’t be any wet ink that could smudge.
Next, I used one of the Double Dot Circle dies that measured 2 ¾ inches and a pencil and traced around the die in the area of the stamped image that I would be coloring. I made sure to get an area of the stamped image that included flowers, leaves and some of the berry branches.
I pulled out my ceramic paint pallet which I keep my watercolor inks in. They dry and then I just reactivate the colors with a bit of water from a spray bottle.
I started off with the blue color and started in the center adding a heavy amount of color with just very little water. This gives me more depth and dimension in the flower. I colored outward leaving white space or lighter blue areas to give it more highlights.
Next, I did the orange flower. I only had one color of orange watercolor ink and it wasn’t as dark as I had hoped. To add some darkness, I did add a drop of brow to it as well. This gave me a bit more of the rusty orange color I was looking for.
For the last flower, I didn’t have any burgundy or maroon colors so I needed to mix colors to get he shade I was looking for. For this I added a red watercolor ink with a couple of drops of a blue watercolor. This gave me a bit of a brighter maroon color. I could have gone a bit darker but I am no expert on color mixing and I didn’t want to turn it into mud, LOL!
I finished of the rest of the spotlight image by coloring the leaves and the berry branches.
Once everything was colored and dry, I cut it out using the Dare 2B Artzy Double Dot Circles die.
Next, I used a plain circle die from my stash that was ever so slightly larger and cut it from dark blue cardstock twice. I adhered the two pieces together and then layered my cut image on top with more liquid glue.
I set that aside and began working on my background.
First, I cut a piece of Neenah Solar White cardstock to A2 size and positioned it into my MISTI. I stamped the large floral image onto the paper so that it was fairly centered. I stamped it a couple more times so that it was partially showing onto the cardstock panel. I took the smaller greenery stamp from the Simple is Beautiful stamp set and stamped it into areas where there was some white space that the larger stamp couldn’t fill in until I had a fully stamped background.
I took the background and cut it down with the Rectangle Framelets die that measured 3 ½ x 4 ¾.
Once it was cut down, I was able to glue my spotlight image into place on the background.
For the sentiment, I stamped and heat embossed the Thankful and the For you stamp sets and die cut them using the coordinating dies. I added 2 additional layers to the sentiments to give them a bit more dimension and help them pop off the page. I added the sentiments to the background using some liquid glue.
Finally, I used the largest Rectangle Framelets die that measured 4 x 5 ¼ to cut a piece of the Breezy Blossoms cardstock. I love that this paper really pulls out the greens in the spotlight stamp image.
I used some dimensional foam to add the stamped panel with sentiments to the Breezy Blossoms cardstock and then added them to a top folding A2 size card panel cut from Neenah 110lb cardstock.
As a finishing touch, I added some light golden yellow gems to the stamped background panel. The hint of sparkle is so fun.
That finishes my Spotlight Stamping technique card made from the Simple is Beautiful stamp set from Dare 2B Artzy.
I have linked all of the products used in today’s card below for your convenience.

Have a wonderfully, crafty day!
