Spring time Birthday Wishes
Hello and welcome!
I am back today with a springy birthday card. It features flowers from the Beautiful Inside stamp set, the sentiment is from the Bouquet of Happiness stamp set. I also used some partial die cutting with the scalloped background from the Slim Mini Heart Background Die set.
To begin my card, I stamped two of the flowers with the trio of blooms from the Beautiful Inside stamp set. I stamped them with Dare 2B Artzy’s Totally Black ink which is a waterproof ink onto some Distress Watercolor Cardstock.
I selected some of my liquid watercolors. I put a few drops of pink, blue, orange, and green onto my ceramic watercolor pallet. My pallet is shaped like a flower so I use the center of the pallet for clean water. I added a few sprays of water to the center using my Distress Sprayer.
Using a #2 Silver Brush Company paint brush, I picked up some clean water and brushed it onto the flowers. Then I added a small amount of color into the wet areas of my image. I continued adding water and brushing on small amounts of color until both of my flowers were colored.
After the flowers were dry, I used the coordinating die set to cut them out. I added some Spectrum Noir clear sparkle pen to the flower bases and leaves for shimmer.
Next, I chose some papers from the Summertime Petals paper collection. I used the black gingham called Bright Blooms and the pink floral with white flowers called Fresh Cut Blooms.
I cut the pink floral to 5 ½ x 3 ½ and the black gingham was cut to 5 ½ x 3 inches.
I would start by partially die cutting the scalloped edge on both pieces of patterned paper. I used the scalloped back layer from the Slim Mini Heart Background Die. I slipped the long edge of one side of the paper under the cutting edge of the die. Then, I taped it in place. I used my Empress electric die cutting machine. I positioned my top plate to cut only the desired edge of the paper. I did this for both sides trying to keep the cutting edge even so that the scallops would line up. I did the same process for the black gingham paper.
The finished size of the floral paper was 5 ½ x 3 1/8 and the finished size for the black gingham paper was 5 ½ x 2 5/8.
I wanted my flowers and sentiment to pop out against the black gingham paper. To achieve this, I used a piece of vellum cut to 5 ½ x 2 ½. Then I used the same scalloped die to partially die cut the vellum to match the rest of my paper. This created a nice soft background for my flowers to rest on. The finished size of the vellum piece was 5 ½ x 2.
I added some score-tape to the floral paper and adhered it to my top folding A2 card base cut from Neenah 110lb Solar White Cardstock. For the black gingham layer of paper, I used some dimensional foam to pop it up.
Next, I stamped my Birthday Wishes sentiment from the Bouquet of Happiness stamp set with Totally Black ink. Then, I restamped it with embossing ink and heat set it with clear embossing powder. I love the finished look of a shiny sentiment on my card panel. I die cut the sentiment using the coordinating die.
I taped the vellum in place onto my card panel with some temporary tape. This allowed me to position my flowers and sentiment onto the vellum. Then I was able to add dimensional foam to my flowers and sentiment and position them on the vellum.
After adhering the flowers to the vellum, I peeled off the temporary tape. Then, I added some score tape to the vellum where the flowers and sentiment would hide the adhesive. Finally, I adhered it to the gingham background.
Next, I added some white iridescent drops with liquid glue to the pane. I love they way they pop against the vellum.
I really love the way this card turned out. It has some nice bright colors with fun scalloped edges on the paper. The added white space from the card base gives it a clean, bright look.
All of the products used in today’s card will be linked below for your convenience.
Thank you so very much for stopping by today.
Hugs,
Tonya
