Sending a Love Note
Hello and welcome back to my blog!
Today I am excited to be playing with a new Dare 2B Artzy stamp set called Love Letters. This was one of the Artzy Clubhouse Stamp Sets. If you are a member, you can get the stamp and die before it’s available to everyone else. This stamp set is perfect for making some fun Valentines Day Cards.
I was drawn to the cute paper airplane and little swirly trail stamp set. Reminded me of passing notes in school. Did anyone else do that??
To start, I cut quite a few strips of paper. I used two shades of pink cardstock and a red cardstock as well as a holographic cardstock. I cut the pink and red cardstock into 1/4-inch strips of paper that were about 8 inches long. For the holographic cardstock, I cut the strips to 1/8 of an inch and they were also 8 inches long.
Next, I took a piece of regular copy paper and cut it down to 5 x 6 inches. I began adhering the strips of cardstock to the copy paper at an angle with my glue press. I alternated my pinks and red cardstock. I added the 1/8-inch holographic cardstock after placing 3 strips of the colored cardstock. I kept gluing the strips in place until about 1/3 of the bottom of the paper was filled up with alternating strips of cardstock.
To keep a white space in the center of the piece, I cut another scrap of copy paper so that it would fit within the angled space and held in in place with temporary tape. Then I was able to continue gluing my alternating strips at the top at the same angle.
Once the top and bottom of the copy paper was filled with the strips of cardstock, I turned it over and trimmed off the excess strips from the back with my scissors.
After it was trimmed down, I was able to take my Dare 2B Artzy Rectangle Framelets die and run the piece through my die cutting machine to give it a clean dotted edge. I cut two additional Rectangle Framelets from some Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Solar White cardstock.
I took one of the die cut framelets and used my scrap of copy paper that I used to block off the center section of the background and used it to lightly trace a line to cut on my Neenah cardstock.
This gave me the section to place between the glued strips of cardstock. I added some liquid glue to the back and adhered it into place.
Next, I cut one of the Slim Mini Heart Background dies from some scrap paper. Using some removable painters’ tape, I adhered it in place over the center section of the card panel. I tried to make sure that the top and bottom borders were equal and placed the removeable painter’s tape across the top and bottom to hold it in place.
I carefully ink blended through the die cut Slim Mini Heart background with some Kitsch Flamingo Distress Ink. Once finished, I removed the die cut to reveal a very soft pink blended background.
Since I had a pretty sizeable border after the ink blending, I added two additional 1/8-inch holographic strips above and below the ink blending to make the border less obvious.
I placed the panel in my MISTI and positioned the paper airplane and the little trail so I would know where they would need to go I removed the paper airplane. The little trail was stamped with Dare 2B Artzy Totally Black ink right onto my background. I cleaned the stamp off and restamped it with clear embossing ink and heat set it with clear embossing powder.
For the paper airplane, I stamped it on a separate piece of paper and I also set it with clear embossing powder. Once finished, I colored it with my Sketchmarker Brush Pro alcohol markers using a couple of shades of blue and some violets. Since, I didn’t have the coordinating die set, I did have to fussy cut the paper airplane out, but it was very easy.
I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment, Happy Valentine’s Day and cut it out using one of the Mini Borders Die from Dare 2B Artzy.
The paper airplane and the sentiment were added to the card panel with some dimensional foam. You could also use a action wobbler to give the paper airplane a bit of movement which would be fun as well.
I popped the card panel onto an A2 card base made from Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock.
For a finishing touch, I added some cascading clay hearts trailing down the left side of the card panel.
That finishes up my Valentine’s Card for today featuring the new Love Letters Stamp set from Dare 2B Artzy.
I have linked all of the products I have used for this card below for your convenience.
Have a wonderfully crafty day!
Hugs,
Tonya
