Artzy Bookmarks
llo and welcome! Today I am playing with some Dare 2B Artzy stamps and dies in order to create some fun bookmarks.
I was thinking about it being back to school season and got to thinking that these might be nice to give a bookmark to kids heading back to school or college as a little reminder that they are thought of and loved. Alternatively, you could also make these as gifts for birthdays or Christmas.
While Dare 2B Artzy does not have a bookmark die currently, you can create one pretty easily by using a tag die and a backer for a word die. I used the Celebrate Tag die and the backer for the Cheers Word Die from Dare 2B Artzy.
In order to create the tag, you have to do a bit of partial die cutting. I used Neenah 110lb Solar White Cardstock that I cut down to 4 ¼ x 6 inches to make it a bit easier to work with in my die cutting machine.
To start, I positioned the bottom portion of the tag (the square rounded edge) near the bottom of my cardstock and taped it in place. Next, in order to do a partial die cut, you will need to position your paper and dies so that only the one edge to cut is under the plates of the die cutting machine. The rest of your die and paper should be sticking out from the plates so that it does not get cut. Then you will move your dies up the paper and do the same thing with the other end to make the decorative end of the tag only this time you’ll leave the bottom of the tag hanging out from underneath your die cutting plates. It’s a bit tricky to do but it can be done. Note, you might have to do a bit of hand trimming as I did to complete the cut that make up the sides of the bookmark.
Once you have your bookmark, it’s time to decorate it. There are so many wonderful Dare 2B Artzy stamps that you can use to decorate your bookmarks. I chose to use the largest flower from the Beautiful Inside stamp set along with the sentiment You’re Beautiful Inside and Out and the paper wrapped flower bouquet from the Bouquet of Happiness stamp set along with the sentiment, If Friends were Flowers, I would Pick You.

I stamped my images onto the bookmarks and colored them with my Sketchmarker Brush Pro alcohol markers. After my images were colored, I used an ink blending brush and some light blue ink to ink blend onto the edges of my bookmarks. This just adds a bit more color and tones down the bright white cardstock and adds a bit of highlight to the stamped images.
Next, I used my bookmarks to trace the shape onto some Dare 2B Artzy scrapbook paper. Once I had my bookmark traced, I was able to fussy cut it out. The patterned paper will serve as the backer to my bookmark. I used the pink checkered paper from the Bouquet of Happiness paper and then I used the floral border from the Floral Elements paper. The floral border from this paper makes a great bookmark by itself, if you don’t like stamping and coloring images. I created one from a scrap piece of cardstock to test out the laminator setting in this image below.

Once the backer paper is fussy cut, I adhered it with some Score-tape so that it lined up with my colored bookmark front.

Next, I got my Fuse machine ready by plugging in and turning it to a setting of 3. Once the light turned green, I took a Scotch Thermal Laminating Pouch measuring 4×6 and put the bookmark in between the two thermal sheets (note: it opens like a book so one end is sealed) and made sure the bottom was flush with the top inside sealed edge of the thermal pouch.
I ran the pouch with my bookmark through my Fuse machine. It is very hot when it comes out so it’s good to set it aside and let it cool.

Once cool, I trimmed down the bookmark’s long edges with my paper trimmer, fussy cut the decorative edge and rounded the corners with some detail scissors.
Next, I used a hole punch to punch out the tag and added some ribbon tassels and a ribbon tie.

That finishes up my project for Dare 2B Artzy today. I hope you are inspired to create your own Artzy bookmarks using some of the stamps, dies and paper from Dare 2B Artzy.
I will link to all of the products I used below for your convenience.
Have a wonderful, crafty day!
Hugs,
Tonya
