Mother’s Day Card – Product Mashup
Hello all and welcome!
Today I am sharing the card that I made for my mom for Mother’s Day! Be sure to check out my YouTube video for this card as well:
This card started with an idea and a spark after seeing a hot foil plate. My inspiration came from the Papertrey Ink hot foil plate called Elegant Script.
To start, I cut some Peaches ‘n Cream Cardstock from Taylored Expressions. I cut it to 4 pieces of A2 Cardstock that measured 4 ¼ x 5 ½.
Using some Aura hot foil from Spellbinders, I foiled the cardstock using my Glimmer Machine and the Elegant Script hot foil plate. The cardstock foiled beautifully and only needed a little soft brush to gently brush off any over foiling.
From the 3 of the panels of cardstock, I used the Honey Bee Stamps Lovely Layers Peony Die set and cut out all of the dies. I cut the leaves (3 quantity) from some Taylored Expressions Green Tea cardstock that I did not foil.

Using the layering guide that comes with the Lovely Layers Peony, I laid out each of the die cut pieces of cardstock to determine how they layer together and the order in which I would need to add some ink blending to the petals of the flowers.
Once I had a good idea of where I needed to add shading, I placed each layer of the flower on my Brutus Monroe Stick and Stamp mat and used my detail blending brushes to add some shading and dimension to them. For this step, I used Ranger Distress Ink in Picked Raspberry and Ripe Persimmon.
When all of the layers were inked, I used a bit of Bearly Arts liquid glue to adhere them together.
I used the same process to ink up the little peony bud die cuts as well as the leaves.
The finished result was a gorgeous set of flowers with shading and a touch of shimmer from the Aura hot foil. I love this result; it turned out better than I expected.
To create my background, I used the Honey Bee Stamps Burlap 3D embossing folder and ran that through my embossing machine with some Butter Cream cardstock from Taylored Expressions. The result is this awesome subtle texture. To make the texture pop off the cardstock, using a light touch I ran my Catherine Pooler Metallic Ink in Platinum across the raised surface of the cardstock. This gives a slight shimmer to the texture that looks so cool.
Next, I used a background die called the Elongated Ovals die from This Calls for Confetti. I used the die to cut some Oreo Cardstock from Taylored Expressions. I love, love this die. It very much reminds me of an Art Deco piece, if you’re familiar with the artist Erté that is what it brings to mind. The ovals in this die have a nice impression that they leave in the cardstock. It’s very, very pretty.

I added the die cut Elongated Ovals to my embossed background with some liquid glue.
I fiddled around with the position of my peony and the leaves until I was satisfied with the look and then added some liquid glue to them to adhere them to my background.
For the sentiment, I had an older die from Simon Says Stamp called the Bold MOM die. This cuts the word MOM as well as a shadow layer. I had some cardstock in my stash that I had played around with some shimmer powders and water. The peachy-pink color went well with the peony, so I used the dies to cut out the main layer and then adhered it to a shadow layer cut from some Tonic Studios Inca Gold iridescent cardstock. I popped the main sentiment up with some dimensional foam. Next, I added a sentiment strip from my stash that reads, “you mean the world to me”. I believe this might have been from a Simon Says Stamp kit but I’m not sure. I will try to link it or something similar below.

I added my entire panel to an A2 card base cut from 110lb Neenah Cardstock.
As a finishing touch, I added some sparkly gems called Topaz Twinkle from Trinity Stamps around my card front. On the inside the card, I stamped a simple sentiment that read, “Happy Mother’s Day” using the Best Mom stamp set from Dare 2B Artzy.
I was so excited to be able to use so many of my favorite company’s products to create this card and thrilled at how it turned out. My mom really liked it as well – yay! All of the products used in this card are linked below for your convenience.

I hope you were inspired by my card today to go out a do something crafty!
Have a wonderful day!
Hugs,
Tonya
