Holiday Birds Valentine Card

Hello my crafty friends! Welcome back!

Hope you had a lovely Christmas and New Years!

Today we are switching gears and I am looking to add some love themed cards to my stash in time for Cupid’s Arrow. I also wanted to use a stamp set that is holiday themed to show that you can shop your stash to see what you have that might work for other occasions outside of Christmas.

I am playing with one of my favorite Dare 2B Artzy stamp sets from the holiday release, the Holiday Birds stamp and coordinating die set.

These adorable birds make the perfect “love birds” and the foliage in this set is perfect for making a beautiful background.

To start, I die cut the largest pierced frame from the Wavy Slimline Framelets die set from Neenah 110lb cardstock. I placed the die cut piece into my MISTI and used the pretty heart shaped greenery to stamp a background on my die cut cardstock. I stamped the image in various positions around the outer edge of the background using Dare 2B Artzy Totally Black ink.

Once finished, I used my alcohol markers to color in the stamped images using some pinks, reds for the hearts and blue-greens for the leaves. Afterwards, I set the piece aside

Next, I stamped and colored both birds from the Holiday Birds using some bright cheerful colors for both. Pinks and orangey-pinks for the girl and blue and blue-green colors for the boy. I die cut them both out using the coordinating dies.

I cut the middle pierced frame from the Wavy Slimline Framelets die from some Neenah 110lb white cardstock. I created a coordinating mat from some red satin cardstock, trimming it down to a 1/16 of an inch larger than my die cut framelet which measured 4 1/2 x 1 3/4. I created the same type of mat for my stamped and colored background.

I stamped the Love and the You with some Dare 2B Artzy Totally Black ink and die cut them with the coordinating dies from the Holiday Bird sentiments.

Using the Gift Bag and Box die set, I pulled the scalloped heart and cut it from some 110lb cardstock and the stitched heart was cut from some more of the red satin cardstock. I glued them together.

My colored background and mat were layered onto a mini slimline card base. I added dimensional foam to my next layer and centered it over the colored background.

The hearts were centered and popped up with dimensional foam. Next I placed my two birds on either side of the heart with a little dimensional foam on the back parts of the birds and their heads were adhered directly to the heart with liquid glue.

Finally, I added the Love You sentiment to the center of the heart.

I added some highlight detail with a white Gelly Roll pen and some shimmer with a Gelly Roll Stardust Pen.

I am over the moon with how this card turned out. I love that I can create a cheerful and fun Valentines Card from a holiday stamp set. I really love the background with the heart greenery. It’s just so pretty! I love, love it when you can use your stamps for more than what they were intended and really stretch your supplies.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a crafty day!
