Joy Christmas Tree Shaker

Hello Artzy friends! Is everyone ready for the holidays? I feel like I am never ready enough and that is why as a crafter I can do some simple things that help me with my holiday card making and my card for Dare 2B Artzy is a perfect example of that.

Today’s card features the Joy Christmas Tree hot foil plate along with the Gift Box Layering Stencil.

When the Joy Christmas Tree foil plate was released from Dare 2B Artzy a few months ago, I spent an afternoon hot foiling the tree on several colors of cardstock using quite a few assorted colors of foil.

Once I had finished my hot foiling, I die cut each of the trees using the coordinating die. I added the trees to my storage sleeve with the coordinating die and stamp for later use.

Fast forward to a hectic holiday season when I need to make Christmas cards and I have plenty of extra trees to make cards. I do this regularly with die cuts and hot foiling so that I have extras in case I need to pull together a quick card.

For today’s card, I used a Joy Christmas tree that I foiled with my favorite hot pink foil onto silver matte cardstock.

To build the card, I used the Gift Box Layering stamp set and ink blended some Spun Sugar, Saltwater Taffy and Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide Inks onto a piece of Neenah 110lb Cardstock cut to 4 x 5 ¼ inches.

Once I was done blending, I used a Jelly Roll Stardust pen to draw over some of the lines and around the bows on my ink blended panel to give it a bit of shimmer and added interest.

Using the Rectangle Framelets Dies, I used the largest rectangle that measures 5 ¼ x 4 and the 3rd largest rectangle that measures 3 1/8 x 4 ¼. I taped them so that they would create a frame when I ran them through my die cutting machine. The result is a frame that is ½ of an inch wide on all sides. I cut it from some 12 x 12 cardstock from the Merry and Bright paper pack. This gives me a nice blue frame with a white pattern that went well with my ink blended background.

I added the frame to a piece of clear acetate that was cut to 5 ¼ x 4 to match the size of the frame. I used Scor-tape to add the acetate to the frame.

To balance the hot pink foil on my Joy Christmas Tree, I decided to add a 2nd frame from some pink glitter cardstock. I used the same 5 ¼ x 4-inch die but this time I used the 4 ¾ x 3 ½ inch die to create a thinner frame that was only ¼ inch thick on all sides.

I layered this frame on top of the blue one. The pink frame helps balance the foiled tree.

To give the card a fun interactive element, I decided to make a shaker card.

I added a double layer of foam tape to the ink blended Gift Box background. I brushed on a little antistatic powder tool around the inside edges to keep the shaker elements from sticking to the sides too much.

For the shaker elements, I used some shimmery white sequins paired with some lighter blue iridescent sequins.

Once the sequins were placed in the center of the background, I removed the release tape from the foam all the way around the card and placed my acetate and layered frames on top of the foam and made sure it sealed all the way around so that none of my sequins would fall out.

The final piece of the card was adding the hot foiled Joy Christmas Tree to the front of the card panel with a bit of dimensional foam.

For now, I have left the inside blank, but I think the sentiments from the Joy Christmas Tree stamp set would be perfect. I really love the sentiment that reads, “May the beauty of the season fill your home with Joy.” That would work perfectly stamped on the inside of my card.

That wraps up my card for today and my last Dare 2B Artzy card for 2023. The Dare 2B Artzy Design Team and I are taking a break for the next couple of weeks to enjoy time with family and friends…and a little crafty time (because let’s face it, I will still be making Christmas cards, LOL).

I have linked all of the products used in today’s card below for your convenience.

I will be back on January 8th with another card to share and a New Year filled with lots of Dare 2B Artzy inspiration.

I hope you all have a wonderful, peaceful, magic-filled Christmas and a safe and Happy New Years with your family and friends!

Warm wishes,

Tonya
