A Joyful Foiled Tree

Hello and welcome back!

Hope you are all ready for a bold and different Christmas card! Today I am playing with the new Joy Christmas Tree hot foil plate and coordinating dies from Dare 2B Artzy! These are part of the new Home for the Holiday’s collection that was recently released. I love that you can get the stamp and die or the hot foil plate depending on what types of crafting you like to do. The stamp set features a lot of great sentiments for your holiday cards and many of the dies in the coordinating die set will cut out the sentiments.

I started off by my card by hot foiling many of the Joy Christmas Trees in all kinds of different colors and on a lot of different cardstocks including standard cardstock, glitter cardstock and foil cardstock.

The pink foil on the shiny black cardstock really jumped out at me. It was so bold and pretty. I might have been channeling my inner Barbie with all of the pink today, LOL!

After the foiling was completed, I used the coordinating die to cut everything out. I cut extra trees from some pink cardstock and glued them to the back of my foiled tree to add extra dimension.

I also hot foiled the Merry Christmas sentiment, the star and two of the holly and berries on the same shiny black cardstock but I used glittery silver foil for those and die cut each of them using the coordinating dies.

The silver star was added to the hot foiled tree with some 1/8’ Redline Tape. I liked the contrasting silver for the star better than the pink.

To create my background, I used a woodgrain embossing folder from my stash and cut a piece of 110lb black cardstock. I gave my cardstock a couple of quick mists of water before running the embossing folder through my die cutting machine.

After the paper was embossed, I used some Interference Inks and with a light hand I dragged the ink pad along the embossed side of the paper. This left slight traces of color and highlighted the woodgrain texture. The ink colors I used were Milk Chocolate Roses Shimmer, Tropical Paradise Shimmer and Cherry Bomb Shimmer. The inks take on a shimmery, iridescent look on dark cardstock but have a totally different color on light cardstock. They are very fun to experiment with! It is very shimmery in person but it is hard to see how much shimmer it has in the photos.

I heat set the background to dry it and then used the Dare 2B Artzy Rectangle Framelet in 5 ¼ x 4 to trim the background down.

I matted the background to a pink foil panel cut to leave a 1/8-inch border all the way around the background.

Using some leftover strips of pink foil and shiny black cardstock, I added those to the background with some Redline Tape and placed the foiled Joy Christmas Tree in the center of the panel.

On the inside panel, I added the foiled Merry Christmas that I cut with the Flag Banner Die from the Curve Slimline Border die. I also added the foiled Holly & Berries.

For a pop of bright shimmer, I added some silver glitter drop embellishments to the little foil circles on the tree with some liquid glue.

Hope you have enjoyed my very non-traditional Christmas card featuring the new Joy Hot Foil Christmas Tree from Dare 2B Artzy.
