Simon’s Swoopy Flowers & Color Cube Inspiration
Hello and welcome back! Hope you are having a fantastic week and are keeping cool from the relentless summer heatwave!
Today I am sharing a card I made a while ago. This card features the Simon Says Stamp Swoopy Flowers stamp, stencil and die set which is still available over on Simon Says Stamp. I used all three from the set as well as some Essentials by Ellen to create the flowers and leaves for this fun thank you card. I have a YouTube video that you can check out for this card here by clicking the link below:
As a starting point, I pulled out a card from my Color Cubes to use as color inspiration for today’s card. The card I selected to use for my inspiration was card #173 which pairs a color pallet of Artichoke, Apricot, Chestnut, Seafoam and Salmon Pink. I think the Color Cubes provide a good jumping off point to create your card designs and help think outside of the box and perhaps inspire some different color combinations that you might not normally use in your card designs. More details about the Color Cubes can be found here: https://sarahrenaeclark.com/colorcube/
To start my card, I stamped the flowers with black ink and then heat embossed them with clear embossing powder. Next, I used the coordinating stencil and several colors of Simon Says Stamp Ink and Concord & 9th inks to ink blend on some color to the flower petals and leaves.
The color of Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Saturated Ink I used were Melon, Cantaloupe, Cheeky, Blush, Guava, Seafoam and Parsley from Concord & 9th and a bit of Ficus from Pigment Craft Company ink.
Once I had finished blending all of the flowers and leaves ink, I used the coordinating die to cut out the colored images.
To add a bit of shimmer to the flowers and leaves, I used a Tonic Shimmer Pen which accentuates the Cheeky ink color I used on the flowers and seafoam on the leaves.
I cut a piece of Hammermill 100lb cover cardstock to do my foiling. I used one of the Essentials by Ellen Hot Foil Circles and some Spellbinders Expresso Bean hot foil to foil a circle outline onto my cardstock. Next, I used the coordinating Essentials by Ellen Circles to cut out the center of my card. The Circle die measured 3 ¼ inches.
Next, I created an A2 size card base from some 110lb Neenah Solar White cardstock. I centered the hot foiled panel onto the front of the card base and added some ink blended Seafoam ink into the area for a bit of color for my sentiment focal point.
I added the foiled panel to the card base with a bit of dimensional foam. To pop up the flowers, I also added dimensional foam to them before placing them around the hot foiled circle on the front of my card panel.
For the sentiment, I stamped, and heat embossed the Thanks from the Swoopy Flowers stamp set onto some brown shimmery cardstock. I am not positive what brand this is, but I think it might be Tonic Studios specialty cardstock. I die cut several extra of the shadow die and added some additional dimension to the sentiment with the added layers.
To finish off the card, I added some solid silver sequins across the card front with a bit of liquid glue.
That finishes my card for today. I hope you have enjoyed my Color Cube inspired card featuring the Swoopy Flowers from Simon Says Stamp. All of the products used in today’s card will be linked below at no cost to you. If you purchase from my links, I may earn a small commission.
Thank you so much for stopping by!
