Love Grows Here….and never dies with paper plants!
Hello and thanks for stopping by!
Today, I am sharing a cute card I made with the Taylored Expressions Love Grows Here kit.
If you know Taylored Expressions and are a fan of their product releases, then you probably know that their wildly popular kits are released once a month and are limited in number.
The Love Grows Here kit was no exception, the kit is sold out unfortunately. There are parts of the kit still available to purchase and I’ll link those below along with anything else that I used that is still available.
To start my card, I used the Love Grows Here stencil and ink blended the various plants, there are 6 total. I used various shades of green from my ink stash of Pink Fresh Studio and Pigment Craft Company.
The stencils for this set are a great design with a 6×6 stencil containing the main leaf bases on one half and the other half of the stencil has the highlight color for the leaves. So, when you ink blend the base color, then you just slide the stencil to the left and add in the 2nd color.
The second 6×6 stencil contains the pots for the plants and there are 6 pots total. Then when you’re done ink blending the base color(s) for your pots, you can slide the stencil to the left and add in the additional graphic details for each pot if you want.
There is also a mini stamp set that contains the graphics for the pots if you’d rather stamp them or stamp and heat emboss the details onto the pots. There are also some small flowers that you can stamp onto your plants with the small stamp set.
With the 6 plants and 6 different pots, the sky is the limit as to what combinations you can create between the two. I had a lot of fun just ink blending and playing around with different plant and pot combinations. I don’t have a green thumb in real life so this was way better as I won’t be killing these plants, LOL!
Once you’ve finished your ink blending, the kit comes with a coordinating die set that cuts out all of your “freshly grown” plants and pots. The dies are unique in that they cut all of the ink blended plants in one pass and the same for the pots. I love being able to cut everything out all at once. It is such a time saver.
The coordinating die set also comes with a small stool die, plant hanger dies, some small flowers and a long skinny die which acts as a shelf or counter for your plants.
Once all of my plants were cut out, I had fun mixing and matching the pots. I found that in some cases, it was easy to snip apart the plants and pair them with other plants to make them look fuller. I did that with the snake plant in this card. I added a darker green variation behind the main snake plant to add more depth.
The plants have an additional small piece at the bottom of them which allows you to glue them to the back of the chosen pot. Taylored Expressions really thought of all of the details with this amazing kit.
Once my plants were glued into their pots, I set them aside with some reverse tweezers to allow the glue to dry.
For the background, I used the Frame in Frame 3 Cutting die to cut the outside frame for my card background. I cut this a second time with some burnt orange cardstock in my stash. I adhered these two items to a top-folding A2 size card base made from 110lb cardstock.
Next, I used an Essentials Stylish Oval die from Spellbinders to cut one of the Foil it – Essential Backgrounds from Taylored Expressions. These backgrounds are made so that you can run them through a MINC machine or laminator for heat transfer foiling. I opted to keep my background black.
I cut a second Essentials Stylish Oval from some black cardstock and used the Taylored Expressions Brick embossing folder to emboss the black cardstock. I cut the embossed oval in half and placed it at the bottom of my patterned Essentials Background with some Score-Tape. Next, to hide the cut line for the embossed cardstock, I added a ¼ inch strip of grey cardstock. This helps distinguish the two pieces of cardstock.
To create the little brown shelf, I stamped the Knock-on Wood background stamp onto some brown cardstock with some brown ink. I used the small strip die that comes with the kit to cut out a piece of the stamped background.
I die cut the little stool from some grey cardstock 3 times and glued them together to give it a bit of dimension.
Finally, I was able to add in my various plants in their pots to create a cute scene.
The card kit also comes with a great set of sentiment stamps called Shelf Control. There are 9 punny plant sentiments in the set. I stamped the I have no Shelf Control and heat embossed it with Taylored Expressions Cilantro Sparkle which was a limited release from Christmas.
I cut the sentiment out with the coordinating die and popped it up on my card panel with some dimensional foam.
Taylored Expressions also released some pre-made sentiments that coordinate with this kit called The Insiders – Love Grows Here which are for adding a panel inside your card that has a pre-printed sentiment. They can also be foiled with a MINC or laminator. I left my card blank for now.
That wraps up my card using the Taylored Expressions Love Grows Here kit. Again, the kit is sold out unfortunately, hopefully they will re-release elements from the kit at a later date. I can’t imagine that they would not re-release at some point considering the popularity of this kit.
As I said before, I have linked to the Taylored Expressions products that are still available that I used as well as the other supplies that I used in creating this card.
Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you have enjoyed my card today.
Hugs,
Tonya
