Jingle a Little

Happy Tuesday! The countdown to Christmas is nearing it’s end. Only 3 days left! If you’re anything like me you may still have a mountain of stuff to get done before the big day. What’s the one thing that you put off until the last minute? For me, it’s wrapping presents. Not really sure why, but it always get’s put off until the last minute and this year is no different. Haven’t even begun my wrapping. It’s on my TO DO list for today.

First I wanted to share another card I made this week. This one features the cute reindeer from Art Impression stamps. If you’re not familiar with AI stamps, they do a lot of comical type stamps and stamps that can be used in unique ways (ie Shakers, Spinners, Front & Backs). This one is one of those unique stamps.  This stamp set comes with the reindeer, a reindeer butt and a sentiment stamp. Normally, this set would have come with the die for the reindeer butt, however I think they had a defective shipment so it was missing and I was able to purchase the stamp at a discount because of the missing die.

I colored the reindeer and the reindeer butt using my Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils. Something a little different for me since I normally reach for my Copics, but I’m trying to branch out and try new things.

Once I was finished coloring I fussy cut them out and set them aside.

I cut some fun patterned Christmas paper using various dies from Die-Namics and Sugar Pea Designs and adhered it to a card base.

I also used the cute little Merry Christmas die set that I received with my purchase of Papercraft Essentials magazine. I die cut that and added a little sparkly green die cut circle behind it and a gold star in the center for dimension.

I adhered all layers to my card base.

For the reindeer, I used the little Action Wobble spring that came with the Reindeer stamp set. The Action Wobblers are made from white plastic and they have a clear sticky back on the top and bottom to adhere to the image look like this:

You can purchase a 12 pack of the Action Wobblers from Art Impressions. I purchased mine at the Scrapbook Expo when it came to Denver back in October. As you can see I paid $6.40 for them, I believe they’re probably around the same price at the online AI store. I think there are also a few other companies that make something similar.

I positioned the Action Wobbler so that it was centered over the reindeer’s butt area and removed the sticky backing. Next I removed the backing on the other side of Action Wobble spring and carefully positioned the other reindeer butt on it and pressed it down to seal it. I got it a little off center, but it doesn’t look too bad. I didn’t want to try to peel it back up and risk tearing the reindeer image so I just left it a bit off kilter.  For a finishing touch I added a little jingle bell to the butt, gluing it on top of where the illustrated bell was on the reindeers butt.

Here’s a link to a short video on my Facebook page that I took of the card when I put it all together so you can see the jingle action (please excuse the background noise as my hubby was in the office working on his own craft project and listening to music when I shot this short video):

The final card looks great and the little wiggly reindeer butt just makes me giggle. I think someone is really going to enjoy this fun little card.

I’ll be back tomorrow with another card to share. I think it will be my final Christmas card this year as I’m quickly running out of time.

For now, I’m off to get some wrapping done.

Have a crafty day!
